Obsidian man, you're not the only one looking for wide hoods & pans. I have 4 D14's and a D12. So far I've found 3 wide hoods & 1 pan.

It looks exactly like a Poly arbor. I wonder if Poly didn't subcontract with this Dunbar & produce these for them. Even the color is right for a Poly arbor. In any case they were an excellent arbor that just doesn't wear out. The best ever made.
On the negative side, hoods and pans are very difficult to find for them. Especially the wider hoods which will take an expando wheel.
If the bearings are smooth & quiet, and the price is under $100.00, it's a good deal.

On slab & trim saws, the blade should always cut down. This helps to prevent the rock you're cutting from trying to ride up the blade & bind it.
Unless your blade already has a direction arrow printed or stamped on it, mark the direction with a magic marker before you take it off. Not all blades are directional, but just play it safe before taking the saw apart.
You might want to look for a replacement motor if you think your old one might reverse itself. Any AC&R shop should have a pile of good used motors that have been removed from old AC units.

Well, if it were a fire, I suppose these would be the first to get out. Next would be this. Then if I had time, my minerals & fossils. They'd be more apt to be destroyed by fire. Oh, and I'd grab the external hard drive for my computer. That's where all of the pics for insurance purposes are stored.

Great idea but um, fossils, minerals, picture jaspers, Fairburn agates, cabs & vintage lapidary equipment are all my favorites. Where do I start ?

I personally enjoy the surprise when that first cut come off. And the next, and the next etc.
No shows near enough to me to go to. No walking from booth to booth drooling. Just gotta slab away & make do with what I have.

Stand for my new (used) 10" saw came today. Hopefully I'll be cutting the box of Mel's Rios that I've been sitting on for a couple months by the weekend.

I'll be watching for your pic too. As a general rule, rutilated will have golden needles. Tourmilated will have black needles.

I'd think that masonry bits might chatter too much, and cause the rock to shatter. Unless of course it were a large rock, and the hole was well away from the edge of the stone.

If I only had one choice of religion to follow, it would be the Tibetan form of Buddhism. Why you may ask ?
1 -- I like the fact that they mourn a birth because of everything the newborn will suffer while alive.
2 -- They celebrate death because at last a person can be at peace. No more suffering.

Did you see where one of our finest slipped the proper words into another bill so the Native American People can be shit on again? I think McCain is a repug right? They have hit the bottom of the barrel with that one. And I do remember that you are not a repug Don.lol Jim[/quote]
McCain isn't a Republican. He's a RINO. He ceased being a Republican when he started agreeing with Ocommie on almost everything.
While I respect McCain's military service, and the time he spent in the Hanoi Hilton, He is a disgrace to the Republican party.

"I knew that I wasn't the only atheist on here but did not know who until Scott spoke up a couple of days ago. I do not see why atheists and Christians can't get along just like Christians and Muslims. Oh well, I tried. Happy days people." Could it be because Christians aren't the ones who are trying to have all christian symbols removed from public view ?

Kirk, you won't be sorry. Tony is one heck of a nice guy to deal with. Always top grade material, and you can't beat his prices on blades and other lapidary supplies.

What are the odds that Obama tries to declare martial law before the next election ? Under martial law there will be no election, and the Socialist in Chief will remain in office.

Only get them twice a year here. Mid spring & Mid fall as they're passing thru. They stop here for 3 or 4 days each time.
