Woah & Congratulations, jakesrocks Don, that is a kick arse rock shed and I am looking forward to seeing how you set it up this spring. I remember you saying you were planning on getting one of the containers. Sweet!!!

broseph82, I like the piece that you recently posted. It reminds me of Picasso jasper or Imperial jasper. Don't have much pet wood, but a pretty chunk from Arizona. xXxAlisha91xXx kindly sent some beautiful slabs of rainbow pet wood to me. Have a few pieces of the seafoam-colored Hampton Butte, and polished slabs. Arizona pet wood 'chunk' that I removed from the "rock" garden because I thought it may crumble even though it is agatized. Discovered one of the beryl xtals (from Hogg mine?) broke that was in the rock garden. I guess the change in temperature caused it to fracture. Since jakesrocks posted his gorgeous cycad pics, I am not sure if this is a cycad or not. We had a nice discussion trying to identify it. @rocks2dust gave me tips on how to test it, too. Cycad?

Do you have any pics of it, along with your other rock ornaments, on your tree that you may post, cobbledstones? Sure would like to see them! Speaking of trees, I need to take ours down...today...ahem.

Welcome to RTH, erik88, from Trap county, I mean Troup county, Georgia! Thanks for sharing pics of your homegrown garnets. Enjoyed checking them out in this post and your introduction post. Will you be hosting a field trip in your back yard any time this winter? Just kidding. The conjoined garnet xtals are pretty darned cool! jamesp knows of a couple of other sweet spots to find garnets in Georgia, and broseph82 in 'Bama. forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/thread/64597/rainbow-color-garnet-mineral-collection?page=2I collect the garnet family (minerals and gemstones) like a crazy woman.

My wife made this sweater for the dog. The dog hates it. I love the Stegosaurus sweater your wife made for your dog, Starguy.

Hi, Intheswamp , have you checked out jadecarver.com for wheels? I discovered the same thing as you about the SC belts that they are only available up to 600 grit. I really like the 6" Crystallite diamond belts on the drum, but 8" diamond belts are expensive. I used the 8" canvas belts with diamond paste, and the belts are available in 6" if you decide to use your drum. Please check arrowheadlapidarysupply.com for the canvas belts. You can remove the pad on the end of the machine until you need to use it. There's lever-lock drums that would make it easier to add and remove belts, w/out having to remove the end pad, but I do not know if they are available in 6 inch. I have a Graves Company Top Cutter on the end of an 180 grit diamond wheel for the backs of stones, etc..., and just remove the top cutter and use a hope to learn intarsia one day. The Top Cutters are 180, 260, & 600 mesh. You could probably use the top cutters for crosses, too, but others have shared excellent suggestions and tips with you on how to get started. Maybe I could list them as hybrid cabs and say a cabbing machine and vibrating tumbler were used in combination to achieve the best possible shine. Sounds like a good sales pitch. Chuck Hybrid cabs sounds like an excellent marketing name. Thank you, and I appreciate your explanation, Drummond Island Rocks. Edited to remove photo.
