Looks good. You shouldn't have problems with the material you show. Polished some a while back and they did well. jeff

Hi, Quite sure it has some agate in it, given the fact that it's from the same area as the Turretella. I tried polishing some slabs of the same stromatolite as you have with mixed results (some areas polished well and others didn't). If you work them, keep us up to date on how things work out. Thanks, jeff

I'm glad it went to a good home. Seems like your kids have the bug, so i'm sure they will appreciate them too. Jeff

Hi, Just thought I'd chime in. Visited the area and found lots of the specimens last year. The guide is accurate, except you don't need to follow the ruts up the hill anymore. They have graded a nice road to the top of the hill (mesa) because there are now some gas wells up on top. Once you get on top, just look around. I think the better material is closer to the edge of the mesa. Thinking of going there myself if I get a chance in the next month even though it's a four hour trip. Definitely go to the Blue Forest if you get a chance. Some good smaller stuff on the ground, but you'll need to dig to find bigger stuff with the blue agate. Have fun, jeff

Have been to Lavic a couple of times when I lived in Southern California. Thanks for bringing back some great memories! Always enjoy your and other's field trip reports.

Great piece! I'd do the same and just add it to my collection. Is it pink? Texas Springs?

Thanks for the field trip. Looks like some good finds. I do the same thing as you mentioned by looking at the sides of graded roads. Might as well let the equipment do the work! jeff
