On a thread that has now been deleted, it was mentioned that MAGMA owns the Crabtree emerald mine. The mine is actually owned by someone else, MAGMA has assumed the responsibility of taking care of the site for the owners, otherwise it was going to be shut down to collectors. Same holds for the original JXR. And to also make sure everyone knows, the fees collected at both places go to the owners, not MAGMA.
Hope everyone is getting out and making some good finds!

I will throw this out (and thanks for the welcome Jake) - the "suspicion" was it might be British Columbia jasper, but they could not say with any degree of certainty. Hoping someone on here knows something more definitive!
as time goes will be posting pics of sodalite, laboradorite, chrysocolla, and tiger eye cabs that I get around to making out of this load - the old man apparently got around in his day, my gratitude to his family who passed it along.
Daniel - reminds me of metallic paint - very minute sparkles, not like micah - not transparent either.

was told of this forum by friend from two other forums, aside from a lot of good discussion was also told there are folks on here that are good at identifying jaspers and agates. what I have comes from a collection of a now departed rockhound who loved to travel out west a lot, most likely hit the Tucson show many times (as the batch I inherited had a bit of tiger's and hawk's eye). Tried to get this slab of material ID'd on another forum to know avail, so thought I would try here: front and back of the same slab - the grey areas that run through it actually have a silver sparkle. so any thoughts? regardless, looking forward to participating and learning on this board!
