LOVE the last one! What do you do with your jaspers? Me too! That one has a lot of quartz through the rock. Some I keep as natural specimens with my collection (unique ones), some I have cut and polished or cabbed for my collection or gifts, mostly gifts. Many go to lapidary friends in the area and out. The rest are backyard landscape. Actually, i'm motivated to collect pj simply for the exercise and moment of the find. My wife can't believe rocks can look like that.

Awesome MHPJ. I'd love to find some of that. Some of them look rounded. Did you find them in a creek? Lynn It's a melange, fed by numerous creeks. Many varieties of rock and poppy types.

Awesome! That pinkish one sure looks similar to a deposit I dug up by Hornitos. Here's a pic of a slab but the poppies in many of the pieces are more solid colored and not concentric ringed like that in this pic...Mel That's awesome Hornitos, very unique. I've been aiming to get over there, to Hunters Valley. Googled your old address there and looks like the land is being cleared.

Couple pj's with orange poppies with yellow centers and purple background, don't find many like that.

Can't find any pics or reference to California Blue Poppy, here's what the larger than fist size rock looks like. I have found blue poppy jasper here in Morgan Hill, very pourous and few poppies. Gave some of the MH to a lapidary friend and haven't heard back yet. I'll get this one sliced asap.

Beautiful material as always! Hey luvtogrow, are you dredcat55 on eBay? Not me, Capt. I'm luvtogrow on ebay, and a buyer only. Have seen that pj though, not sure of precise location it's collected.

Do you mean closer to the house, near to the trees? Yes. Not too close to the house though. The last hill to the right before getting to the field leading to the house. The creek bed below that hill is called boulder drop.(I think)

Nice collecting! There is a lot of Poppy Jasper at A54. Mostly orange or reddish. I've had the best luck in the far back right hills and creek bed. Here's a pic of the orange with micro quartz poppy eyes and a red with bit of yellow.

Great finds! Really like the red and yellow one with the huge poppies a lot. So, is there now a fee for hunting area open near Morgan Hill? Your finds look like stream bed stuff and I was wondering if some ranch has opened up their land for collecting now. or is it your own ranch?.......Mel Nothing has opened up that i'm aware of. That is stream bed/bank, and I mostly collect along the stream, following the deer tracks and areas they tear up. It's so dry here the collecting is tough!
