I think this is what you need the top 50 piece set. www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_3_11?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=diamond%20burr%20set&sprefix=diamond+bur%2Caps%2C207this is a recommendation that they had 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful 5.0 out of 5 stars Great buy!, August 12, 2010 By MBernadette "M. Bernadette" (Texas) - See all my reviewsAmazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: 50pc DIAMOND BURR SET- Ceramics Tile Glass Lapidary for ROTARY TOOLS (Tools & Home Improvement) I bought these diamond bits because I work with glass. It is very difficult to find a 5/16" bit with a 1/8" shaft for a hand held rotary tool. If you are looking for a way to drill a hole for a clock, this is the set. There are about 3 bits in this set that I can use for that task. As for the rest of the bits, I will figure out creative ways to use them in my pieces. The price was definitely right.

They make a rock rascal vise that you can cross feed but its a little hoky (sp) www.rocktumblers.com/rock-saws/rock-trim-saws/reentelprofessionalcontinuousrimdiamondblade.cfm, you would have to loosen the wing nuts to advance it might be kind of tricky. Another option is take a couple pictures of what you need and the saw say the rock rascal to a machine shop and ask if they can fabricate one scaled to your machine these guys are genius and it may cost less than you think.

I have one like that only a little lager but someone slabed an end off it so it would sit flat I guess, so I am going to make as large a cab as I can around 3 inches by 2.5 or so and wrap it like a picture fram and put on an easel for a specimen, I can get at least 2 quarter inch cabs and a couple smaller. Just a thought.

I am not a wire wrapper and am not sure I will try, but I have ideas swimming through my head. Sooooo one of the patterns I like is the herring bone wrap but it seems that it is confined to beads, is there away to use a cab not drilled? One way I was thinking might work would be a wire soldered to a back plate glued to the back of the cab or may be using a grooved cab, so would one of these ideas work or does someone here have a better solution?

You guys must be reading my mind I was going to ask about girdle width and angle . I know the smithies like a little bevel to the girdle for their bezel and I have seen three wire wraps but don't think they look as good as the four wire where two are the prongs just looks more finished IMHO, maybe good for earrings.

Thanks I was wondering about the adjustment possibility. If jsgemlapidry does offer an alternative I would deal with them rather than an unknown on e-bay.

I inherited an Inland diamond band saw some time ago and have just gotten around to trying it out. It seems to work quite well even though It's kind of shoddy construction, with a high price tag. Replacement blades are very expensive too. Has anyone here had any experience with these saws? I have seen a third party blade on ebay that is cheaper but do they work or do any here have other souces for the blades.

Thanks I was thinking that way but you confirmed it. If anyone else has an opinion I would entertain that too.

Hi my name is Ken I'm new to the forum but have done lapidary for quite some time, I'm interested in doing some cabbing for a friend that is starting to wire wrap and possibly for some other locals that do it. Sooo my question is do you guys or gals have a preference on the height of the girdle of the cab and do you want it polished and how about the back of the cab do you prefer it unfinished or polished. The reason I asked is because polishing does make the cab slicker and harder to manage but does give it a nice finished look?
