I have heard of the Renaissance Wax - I will look for it. Also have heard (but forgotten) about the copper solder. Thanks for this info. Really jealous of your skills. Practice, practice, practice -

Beautiful work. I really like the copper! Two questions: Do you put the texture on copper or buy it that way? Do you put a "finish" on the metal to prevent tarnish? Or do you patina? (I know that's three questions.)
I have been working with copper for several years in the course of doing stained glass work. I do not buy it, rather take old copper from motors, used plumbing, etc... and clean it, shape it anneal it and re-use it. I have not tried making bezels but I might. Do you have advice on a protective coat for the metal?
Tried once to solder a copper finding but not happy with the results. Silver is to pricey. Anyway, thanks for the ideas and the photos.

Kathy,
I feel fortunate to have made this barter. I even like the word "barter." Don't know why - I just like it. The stones you wrapped for me are wonderful. One (the charoite in sterling) is a birthday gift for a dear friend and she will love it. The other three are for my wife (44 years on 12/20/15) and she loves them. Thank you so very much Kathy. WE WILL DO IT AGAIN - BARTER!

This is beautiful. I have a slab that I've cut once and the cab is polished, but like many I am not happy with the final 'shine.' I will go back and try again following your notes. Thanks! Don

Beautiful work! Love the simple lines of wire - let the rock be the focal point - excellent combination of rock and wrap!

Beautiful and a nice variety to look at, too. Kathy has a way with irregular shapes. Were these tumbles? I think I like the first the best, I like them separately but I think the wrap and stone work well together, too. Thank you. They are not tumbled - I'm practicing on my home made grinder/polisher.

I wish I had kept every pound of that stuff. Old man Linville is gone and I do not have access anymore. If this is still available I would love 10 pounds or 5 pounds - please let me know. Thanks Don

Thanks - I looked at the msds and it is not something I want to play with. I think I will stay with epoxy. Was using some super glue gel last night and glued my thumbs together. Just a spot the size of a pinhead - but took some time to 'disengage.' lol thanks again,

I have on occasion glued bails to polished stones. (Tried the wrapping and came up with four thumbs on each hand - lol.) I use 330 epoxy (once or twice super or krazy glue). Recently ran across an ad for Bondic. Uses a liquid plastic that is cured (in 4 seconds) with a UV LED. Ad states clearly that the bond is a plastic and not a glue.
Have you used or do you have an opinion on Bondic? It is supposed to stay liquid until hit with the UV light and that seems to me to give better control over the application. Layers of hardened "plastic" can be built up to the desired strength.
Starter kit is not too pricey but I wonder if plastic will work at all on metal to stone? I could always find a use for this but really am just wanting to learn (and save money) from your experience. Thanks Much! Don

Thanks for sharing the video and photos. I love to watch storms - especially on the ocean. And the wood and rocks on the shore are reminding me of the power of nature. thanks again.

In the divot add butter and a half cube of beef bullion (whole cube if onion is LG) Absolutely wonderful. And yes, Vidalia onions are best.

After looking through many other "member photos" I am almost embarrassed to post these - but it's where I am right now. I keep thinking I'll get better at cabbing and photos. Remembered this: It's not the destination, but the trip that counts. Getting there. I am not sure about the blue one but think it is Sodalite The other two I am pretty sure are: Picture Jasper Crazy Lace

Welcome from Middle Georgia! This is a great place to learn about lapidary and see some great stones!
