No don't think I would call it scoria, my thoughts are and this seems consistent with the geology is that it would be volcanic ash which is basically a (pyroclastic) rhyolite. 🤔k

I think what you have there is a Rhyolite actually pretty sure. Thanks for your comments ! 👌🏻 Your comment lead me to these ... I am thinking more on scoria what do you think ? Here is what I have found “Scoria is a highly vesicular, dark coloured volcanic rock that may or may not contain crystals (phenocrysts). It is typically dark in colour (generally dark brown, black or purplish red), and basaltic or andesitic in composition. Scoria is relatively low in density as a result of its numerous macroscopic ellipsoidal vesicles, but in contrast to pumice, all scoria has a specific gravity greater than 1, and sinks in water. The holes or vesicles form when gases that were dissolved in the magma come out of solution as it erupts, creating bubbles in the molten rock, some of which are frozen in place as the rock cools and solidifies. Scoria may form as part of a lava flow, typically near its surface, or as fragmental ejecta (lapilli, blocks and bombs), for instance in Strombolian eruptions that form steep-sided scoria cones. Most scoria is composed of glassy fragments, and may contain phenocrysts” Will keep searching any coments are welcome ...

That banded piece is really cool! Are those limestone cliffs you're searching in? It's kinda hard to tell from the picture. More or less but not limestone ... we call it here continental sand is Is a mix of soil sand toba and piroplastic material from a volcano that is not active now ...

Hi Jim - I don't know how to change the format in a phone but Rockshow doesn't do video anyway, sorry. Better off uploading to Youtube or Vimeo and then posting a link.

Yes they appear to all be agates. Pics #1 & #2 appear to be the same specimen. the white if from weathering the darker interior would be the natural color. They look like they were setting on calcite or something when formed now that is gone. interesting pieces. Images #3 & #4 also appear to be the same piece it is interesting it is like the center formed at one time then the outside (or vice-versa). #5 & #6 look like horse mtn agate from TN. #7, #8, #9 all look like from the same piece some sort of sagenite. #10 looks like a slab of of #1 or what I would expect to see from a similar piece of #1. #11 is a tube agate, #12 looks like a sagenite again, #13 is botryoidal again looks like agate, and the last two appear to be either a brown or carnelian. Yes is a total mix the specimens here en PTY wonder why ... 🤔

At least some, if not most all of those are nice agate nodules. Some even show nice banding. Should make a fine tumble...Mel fvptyLooking at the shapes, those nodules looking like fine silicified sea urchins. If so, desirable finds. Please be aware. Many silicified sea urchin bodies can have crystal linings. Please look for these shapes and markings for fossil sea urchins: Compare: Remember one thing ! These beach is almost new( these sounds rare yes I know !!!! ) or open to public since is not accesible than boat and now by plane but not everybody can go there since is a private beach now ... I am sure maybe I am the first to take agates, quartz etc... maybe I am worng but dont know people to collect stones .... the round shape is cuses by the ocean movement ... they are really smooth!! with a white cover that I am not able to define really wish mineral is !!! Have slice some of the smaller nodules to check for geodes but they were all solid ... let’s wait for final tumbling process and you will be able to see more close the material 50% agates 50% quartz all of them covered by these smooth white material also Impress me the smooth it is and the white It can be ... looks like the white of bleached coral ... I guess ... some small calcedonies.... let me finsih the polish process and will up load the pics... thanks to all comments have a happy new year 2018... and keep looking for good specimens ! Ps ah sorry but not sea urchins on these batch !
