Some other colorful small fillers that will stay in step 1:

Also added some raw rocks to the barrel:

I love to see the evolution of each rock (what else could you do if you only have a #3 rotary ) It is a learning experience to understand what features on the rocks are difficult to tumble out. Concave areas with large curvatures are really hard to get smoothed out and I also noticed that in the step 2 of my vibe, some thin rocks tend to bump into these concave areas and make new dents. I better prepare the rocks to break such areas.

Another happy Sunday to check the stage 1 progresses: Last week when I checked with the progress I realized I made the same mistake weeks ago to put too many rocks and thus not enough grinding. I decided to put most of the rocks back and added some sugar as been practiced by some RTH members. So here comes the comparison with two weeks before.

Before: 10/2 After: 10/16 The other side Before: 10/2 After: 10/16 These are some interesting shapes, Christmas stockings, heart, and the one on the right of second row reminded me of the national flag. After the grinding for two weeks, the patterns on the right-top Mexican lace agate looks clearer on one side, but it seems the pattern on the other side will take much longer to show up.

That's all for this week. The last picture is some of the little nice pieces that will accompany most of the bigger pieces shown above for another week of 60/90 grinding.

I like your mix of stones, lots of eye candy in there
What are you using for your little plastic trays?

Thanks. Hope they all stay the wet look once polished. The trays are from some Costco "Bibigo Steamed Chicken & Veggie Dumpling". These days I not only hoard rocks, but also keep most of the recyclable trays and containers. My spouse is not super excited on either.

Bahias and Botswanas are amazing tumbles. Every clean out is a near new rock and your patience can be so severely tested, you could consider cussing in church.
Worth it tho,🤗.

I saw this image the other day and showed it to my wife...it's VERY apropos around our house! LOL I can't say enough how grateful I am that you're taking the time for the before and after pictures! It really is fun to see the progression!

Updated 10/23 This week's tumbling progress. Going forward I will only take pictures of a dozen of rocks, so that it is more manageable. First 8: Front Back

A close-up look at the Bahia agate. It really doesn't change much if you check weekly.
