I definitely recommend using dead soft if you're going to be weaving...using half hard was "all the way" hard! LOL Rio is working on taking all our money . Life is too short to use hard wire !
Patty.... the hidden bail idea sounds terrific - make sure you tell me how you do it. Oh you know me...not one to be shy about showing a picture of my backside! LOL

This piece was a nightmare from start to finish...only because I can't follow directions! LOL - This is from a tutorial on YouTube...kinda. The tutorial calls for the large beads between the rays...but I altered the design and added all the beads between the prongs. The design calls for 22 gauge dead soft wire to do the weaving of the "rays". Well...I don't have that. I have 20 gauge HALF HARD!! I was up until 1am getting this piece done...and I can't feel my fingers today! I jacked up the weave three times and had to start over each time...so there was a TON of making tight bends with wicked hard 20 gauge wire last night! LOL I'm on the fence about doing a patina on this piece. It can go either way I think. The pictures make it look more red than it is. It's closer to gold-cooper looking rather than red-copper. But after 20some pictures trying to get the color to come out right, I'm sticking with these pics! LOL As always, thanks for taking a gander. That is awesome! I have had a Nightmare I couldnt wake up from, Tumbling Mexican Lace Agate and Zebra Jasper! lol

How long does something like that work of art take you Jason? Pretty incredible handy work.

How long does something like that work of art take you Jason? Pretty incredible handy work. Thank you Chad! How long DID it take me...or long SHOULD it have taken me? LOL This one actually took me hours. I didn't keep track...but since I had to start over three times, it took me longer than it should have. Trying to manipulate the 20 gauge wire was also time consuming. Without the errors...maybe three hours of actual work time (as opposed to less than an hour on one of my "normal" wraps). I'm going to wrap the other Burro Creek circle cab in the same type of wrap. I'll see how long that one takes me. There's going to have to be some "pre-work" work to be done as I need to do the math to configure the spacing of the prongs correctly since the circumference is greater on the larger one.

There was a tutorial long ago about how to do a floating bail that was basically just a step or two away from hidden. I don't know if it was saved, but Chris ? posted it. Maybe run a search on floating bail?

Maybe run a search on floating bail? Thanks Susuan! I tried searching a bunch of variations of "floating bail" and didn't come up with any tutorial. I ran across chrisperez...and I wonder if that's who may have posted it somewhere in the wire wrapping section. I didn't see it when I searched him + tutorial...

Unless the author deleted the pics, it should still be here somewhere.
I've made this before. Not the same as what y'all are talking about, but useful.

I just looked up the definition of "over the top". Believe it or not, this wire wrap was pictured. Seriously, it reminds me of a snowflake or sun. Would love to see this style of wrap with a white/clear/yellow cab. Opal would also be amazing.

I remember when this style fist came out and everyone was making seahorses with it.

I've made this before. Not the same as what y'all are talking about, but useful. Thanks for the link on that tutorial. I've got a couple other versions of tutorials for bails similar to this one...but I just saved this one to my "faves" list! I've got a couple designs which are waiting in the wings that call for this kind of bail! I just looked up the definition of "over the top". Believe it or not, this wire wrap was pictured. Seriously, it reminds me of a snowflake or sun. Would love to see this style of wrap with a white/clear/yellow cab. Opal would also be amazing. Thank you so much Beth! I hadn't thought about a "clear" cab...but you're right...this would work really well with one! I remember when this style fist came out and everyone was making seahorses with it. I can see that! I have two tutorials (also waiting in the wings! LOL) which are for seahorses. They both look EXTREMELY time consuming...for me at least...so they're still on hold for now! LOL

Stunning wrap my friend... makes my eyes happy and my head hurt. We should get you a Gopro for xmas, so you can strap it on your head and give us some first person view tutorials.

Thank you my friend! If I did have a Gopro on while I was wrapping, we'd have to have someone edit out all the swearing to make it family friendly! LOL

I hear that, then you just need to put a nice music bed over the whole tutorial. That's the way I would do it. That way you wouldn't have to see my face or hear my voice:), but would still see the important stuff in front of me.

Would the music score have to be..................wait for it..................Rap music?

From the looks of your example, I would choose bluegrass. I found this video for hidden bails on YouTube--I've not seen one before like this, and it's very different from what I have done, but it's an example of all you need--you just need something "even" on the back for the chain portion to pass through evenly. . I would have looked for more but got stuck on music videos.

I might have a couple ideas of how I can do it...but we'll see if it works out or not! LOL ETA - I do love Bluegrass. Alison Krauss has one of the best voices I've ever heard!! Bro ...... I said raise the bar. RAISE the bar. That is shooting the bar into lunar orbit!!!! Exceptional wrap my brother! 👍 LOL - Thanks Bro! I was talking with my wife last night and told her I've got to get some "normal" wraps done for an upcoming show...and if I post them, people are going to be like, "These are kinda boring!". LOL

Man, you've outdone yourself again. I love this wrap! Thank you so much! I was going to get started on the big sister to this one last night...but just couldn't get my tail over to the table to get it started. I think I'm still trying to decompress from this one! LOL
