This piece was a nightmare from start to finish...only because I can't follow directions! LOL - This is from a tutorial on YouTube...kinda. The tutorial calls for the large beads between the rays...but I altered the design and added all the beads between the prongs. The design calls for 22 gauge dead soft wire to do the weaving of the "rays". Well...I don't have that. I have 20 gauge HALF HARD!! I was up until 1am getting this piece done...and I can't feel my fingers today! I jacked up the weave three times and had to start over each time...so there was a TON of making tight bends with wicked hard 20 gauge wire last night! LOL I'm on the fence about doing a patina on this piece. It can go either way I think. The pictures make it look more red than it is. It's closer to gold-cooper looking rather than red-copper. But after 20some pictures trying to get the color to come out right, I'm sticking with these pics! LOL As always, thanks for taking a gander.

Wow it seems to me the next level of wiring! Congratulations on finishing the wonderful piece.
It seems to me there is not much on the front side to keep the cab from falling out if you push the back. I believe the wire actually take a good grasp of the cab though. Just curious how it is achieved.

Holy crap!!! He’s evolving 😂 That’s a crazy sick wrap btw. Thanks Brother! Yeah...but evolving into what, is the question! LOL Wow it seems to me the next level of wiring! Congratulations on finishing the wonderful piece. It seems to me there is not much on the front side to keep the cab from falling out if you push the back. I believe the wire actually take a good grasp of the cab though. Just curious how it is achieved. Thanks PS! Great question. The perimeter of the base circle underneath the cab (the one sporting the prongs) is just a hair larger in diameter than the circumference of the cab. This enabled me to angle the prongs toward the cab, keeping it secure that way. CAN the cab be pushed out...yes...with enough pressure...and it does take a bit...I know, because I tested it. Under normal "wear and tear" I truly believe it is well-secured. However, just with anything...given abnormal abuse, it won't take it. Wow, my hands hurt just looking at all that weaving. WTG, looks great. Thanks Diane! I'd say I was glad you could "feel my pain"...but that just doesn't sound right! LOL

Wow! That’s crazy looking and seems like a real pain to accomplish! It looks awesome!! Good job! This wrap would look awesome with a white stone or a lighter blue/white stone for a Christmas snowflake wrap too!

I'd love to do one like that in silver...but I really don't have the right silver to do it. Maybe someday.

The nightmare results of improvisation! But you persisted and conquered in a heavier gauge wire. Congratulations! Not only did you conquer, you did it with finesse. I'm out of adjectives now, but I really appreciate the effort that went into this marvelous star, but don't envy you the bruised fingers. Christmas in the desert.

What an outstanding piece, Jason! The cab and bail are clearly supporting actors to your stunning framing. When (not if ) you do this design again, I would really like to see it with a hidden bail, pretty please ...

Don't be so modest THAT is amazing and it sure doesn't look like it gave you trouble.

Maybe I should have labeled this one "Persistence"! What an outstanding piece, Jason! The cab and bail are clearly supporting actors to your stunning framing. When (not if ) you do this design again, I would really like to see it with a hidden bail, pretty please ... Thanks Gary! Ooooh! I like the idea of a hidden bail! I'll have to get with Tela. I know she's done them...but I have NO idea how it's done. It will complicate things a little having a hidden bail. I'd have to do the math to get the spacing right...which I know I'm pretty sure I can do. LOL That makes my fingers hurt just looking at it lol! The wrap came out really nice, way to stick with it. Thank you my friend! The worst part about the fingers...my one finger is still numb after the injury this summer. I was grinding down the back of the cab on this one last night (before it was in the wrap! LOL) and didn't feel my finger on the wheel until it had already drawn blood...and gotten down to the point I COULD feel it! LOL

Don't be so modest THAT is amazing and it sure doesn't look like it gave you trouble. Thanks Tela! Oh...this one was a definite headache! LOL - But I'm a glutton for punishment, so I'm going to start the "big sister" tonight! LOL Any pointers on where to find direction on doing a hidden bail? I've been curious for awhile, but haven't been curious enough to look any further until Gary just brought it up.

Thanks Patty! I definitely recommend using dead soft if you're going to be weaving...using half hard was "all the way" hard! LOL

Patty.... the hidden bail idea sounds terrific - make sure you tell me how you do it.
