I can finally post this. I was asked to make four pendants by a family friend, all out of the same rock to give to the four women in his family for Xmas. It sounds like they were a big hit! I ended up making 7 because a few broke while cutting the groove for wrapping and dude to internal fractures. Overall really happy with how they turned out!! Here's one that split open when cutting the shape on the trim saw. Better at that point than later on! Cutting the groove chipped the bottom of this one I ended up making that one a little smaller because everything else looked really good. This one had the whole back flake off. I should have noticed the fracture going in parallel with the flat of the rock. But in the end, I think they turned out pretty good and they were really happy with them!

agatewhisperer - Alex, it's about time these beauties were shown to the public! The cabs are amazing...and the groove wraps made them look very elegant! Fantastic job on that Noreena! markb - Noreena Jasper

I don't think there should of been any doubt that they would love them. Makes me think I need to do this for all the women in the family, too.

Thanks! That's Noreena Jasper. I've had some issues in the past with this kind of rock breaking so I should have expected it, but these are from probably the best slabs I've cut so far.

Great job on them. They turned out beautiful and the bonus is that they were happy with them. Win win

I've gotta say it was a good idea (not originally mine so I can't take credit) and a lasting connection & heirloom. Just be sure to make a few more than you plan on needing 😳

They turned out beautiful! Noreena is known to do that chipping and flaking thing, so I'm impressed you got 4 great cabs out of them.

Great job. They are very beautiful! Also, thanks for mentioning the difficulties with the stones as I am discovering for myself the defects that can occur with what I thought was gem quality material. Thanks for sharing.

Those look great and it looks like you got a good shine. I've got some Noreena that polishes well and some other that just seems to want to stay matte.

It was a hard one not to post that's for sure! Thanks! Very nice gift. May I ask why you didn't want to post about it? Are some of the recipients on here? Perhaps you mentioned it before, but I don't get out much.

Perhaps you mentioned it before, but I don't get out much. Yeah very unlikely, but I just wanted to be extra careful in case it got back to the people receiving the gift. I also posted a tutorial of how it was made on my website that my family/friends were invited to so didn't want to risk it.

They will surely be treasured for generations. Did you finish the front and back the same way?
