Lovely! I really like the OJ, but it's way out of my price range. Had some green/yellow/red that was being auctioned off and the pieces were hundreds of dollars. Maybe if I ever get good enough to sell what I make lol...Very nice! At this point, they are an investment. I picked that one up as Buy It Now. I'm sure it would have done well at auction. It's pretty nice and 5x5". Most of the really nice old ones are really big. Most of the above pictures are quite large.
I haven't bought a slab in awhile, so it was my treat.

Wow! Each slab of your old stock must be worth thousands. A couple are certainly in the 1000 dollar range. When it first hit the market, I bought quite a bit, but I didn't cab then. I picked up cheap cabs and used them all in jewelry I sold. I did pick up a few slabs, though. You got to get lucky now to find something nice and reasonable. I considered the 225 reasonable.

Ocean Jasper is amazing. I can't seem to get enough of it.
The good stuff is very difficult to find and even more expensive to acquire.
I especially love the 'older' pieces with the orange/green combo and visible orbs in a clear-ish 'matrix'.

Nope, I didn't know. I'll download the book you posted and consult with you on any future sales! I haven't studied OJ like you have. Meanwhile, I'm seeking any and all info on Sugilite pricing and grading. Any RTHers with insigjht on that topic are urged to poost it or PM me.

The only thing I really know about sugilite is that the gel is what you want. LOL! I have some very inexpensive cabs that are purple and pretty, but not being gel really affects the value.
Notice the mottled, swirly background? Yours is quite early if it isn't vein 1.

I like the white one with the stencil on it. If the cab don’t fit, you must acquit 😉

Maybe we should start another thread, but gel Sugilite, pretty and expensive as it is, isn't the only pricey type. Most of the research I've done on price seems to focus on dark purple-to-blue (with Richterite) as being very desirable. I hear a lot about Sugilite value but can't seem to locate much substantive info to back it up.

The OJ slabs on this thread are mind blowing! It really puts to shame the majority of "OJ" being sold nowadays. I remember seeing those slabs being posted last year and it inspired me to seek out some OJ. Then I realized how much being sold now is pretty low grade stuff in comparison.
For what it's worth regarding Sugilite pricing. I was briefly looking at some at the Quartzsite Pow wow last week, until I asked the dealer what their price was... They said $20-$25 a gram, I promptly walked away lol. I know nothing about what constitutes quality but this stuff looked pretty good. I opted instead to buy a variety of turquoise and variscite for $0.25-$1 a gram lol.

The prices you stated were comparable to what I had read. I graded mine on the chart, weighed it, and got an approximate price of $6000 for the chunk shown in my post. If that’s right or not, I dunno.
