I haven't cabbed in about a year. I was lucky to get 6 done in the time I had the other day. A mooka broke, but none of the rest gave me any trouble. Yay! My shoulders are a little sore, though. First up- Opalized Descutes Jasper- at least I'm pretty sure it's opalized. It polished like it is. I don't know if you tell, but the way this is broken it you can see it has a waxy luster. It looks like opalized pet wood I've had.
High dome Indonesian pet coral- This has been on my fix it list for years. It's just been kicking about. It used to have a slight inside curve which put the tip at an angle I didn't like, so I recabbed it. Then, I noticed that the girdle was too thick, so that's what I just did.
Indian Blanket Jasper- Sorry- it's a little out of focus. This is my first IBJ. I LOVE IT! I wish you could see the hematite in it. The pink is nice and bright and pure. This came from Lynn zarguy quite a few years ago. (Thank you!) I recently did some slabbing with a 4" blade. It was time consuming, but I really wanted to work one of these. jasoninsd is slabbing a bigger one for me. This is going on my favorites list. Bruneau- Bruno- Jasper King of jaspers- Another of my favs and another classic. This polishes up like no one's business. 45mm Sorry, looks like it attracts dust.
Bat Cave Jasper- realrockhound was kind enough to send me some of this. This cab is from a marked preform he sent. I cut my teeth on it and learned a lot. It would of had better layers, but they were too deep and the cab was getting thin. I have some more to play with. THANK YOU! Another classic and another fav- Owyhee Flower Jasper. See the flower? This polishes so nicely. It may be a porcelain jasper. Those little spiderwebs at the top aren't cracks they are just part of the pattern. Oh, those close up pictures...
Thanks for looking!

Look at you go! Very nice. Love the Deschutes and the Owyhee Flower. The Owyhee Flower is really hard to find now. I have some pieces of rough that we bought a while ago and I'm loathe to cut it because I know I'll probably never find any more.

I didn't realize how hard that Flower jasper was to find till AFTER I cut the slab. DOH!

Beauties all, especially the first and the last. Yeah, an intriguing shape on those two. Can’t put my finger on it but . . . ; )

My favorite is whichever one I'm looking at! So glad that you not only had a great cabbing day, but also that you have incredible treasures to show for it.

I have all sorts of the Indian Blanket. Have not worked with any of it yet. A lot of it is still in the common opal stage, and some has converted in to jasper.

Nice set. I am also a big fan of the Bruneau and the Owyhee.

Thanks for the show, Tela!
I found myself falling into the swirling void of the Bruneau, but then I lingered on the last cab: I see stone-age huts along the bottom foreground, with rock paintings on a stone cliff behind the "village".

Great set. Batcave came out nice too. I cut that slab just a tad too thin.

Great cabs & images rockjunquie They're all great but I'm a sucker for quality Deschutes. The fracture really does look like opal. I know some of the material from there is opalized so I think your guess is probably good. Should have had a "softer" feel on the wheels when grinding than jasper. Love the Owyhee too. Didn't see much of it even when I lived in Boise, very near the source.

Another very attractive set of cabs Tela rockjunquie. The capture on the Bruneau is perfect. Isn’t that stuff fun to cab?

So did I! All are stunning! I love looking at all y'alls work. It sets the bar real high.
