(I hope this is the correct forum, if not please feel free to move it to the correct one)
I've always been a collector and am now embarking upon tumbling. Looking forward to getting my new tumblers running once the weather breaks. I'm interested to see pictures of how you set up your workshop, work area, etc. Additionally, how you store rough rocks, finished rocks, etc. Lastly, any other starter tips you may have as far as set-up, workflow, etc. Thank so much for your tips and advice, really excited to start processing rocks and perhaps in the future branching out to saws, cabs, etc.

You're in the right place. It could have also gone in the tumblingg section. This has been covered in many threads. I think Drummond Island Rocks probably has the most enviable shop. He may know how to find his old threads.
I don't tumble and do everything else on my kitchen table, so I'm no help. Sorry. Great questions, though.
I do know you will want easy access to a sink.

Well, I love work space set ups. I could make a hobby out of just that, so I hope people post some pics. I also scrolled through the links jasoninsd posted above, there are some fun spaces and ideas in there already. I am just getting back into the hobby and trying to get my various areas set up still. We just have a two car garage that we actually park in. It was already full with shelves all around the perimeter for general house and tool storage so I’ve had to get creative with my rock hobby spaces. I recently built a very compact little workbench for my cabbing machine, maybe I can get a link posted to that thread. We also have an open drop style rock saw that we are currently refurbishing, a trim saw, and a tumbler with two 12 pound barrels. These three machines all sit on small wooden stands in the center aisle between our cars. The tumbler and trim saw actually share the same stand. We built a riser table surface that straddles the tumbler roller system and provides a table top for the trim saw to sit on, then that can be stored on a shelf below when we want to use the tumbler. Most all of my rocks are stored in plastic Tupperware bins and those are actually in the guest room. I’m hoping to build some new shelves in the garage and get those moved but that entails first building a backyard shed for all the yard equipment! Not enough time to do it all. I’ll try and get some pics. I think you just have to get creative with your space, look around and find a small area that will fit your equipment and just make it work. 👍
