susand24224 - Congrats on getting this one done!! I didn't even think of wrapping a coin!! I've been trying to figure out of the wire going up to the bail is a structural imperative, or a design feature.

Well, Susan- you did better than me. I can't think of anything unique to do. Wish i had thought of a coin, too. I'm looking forward to the second one. For me, the second always turns out better. I like the bead- both the bead itself and the design aspect.

I've been trying to figure out of the wire going up to the bail is a structural imperative, or a design feature. A little of both. I would have wrapped the entire coin, but didn't have enough 20 gauge half round to wrap two entire coins. That wire had to go *somewhere*, and that was what I chose.

This is not my best wrap for sure, but I will know what to do next time (my parents travelled a lot). Yes, the challenge is definitely for learning how to do it next time, at least for me so far. PS: I could express you coins or the marble of the world . . .

I have an idea- just not the ambition.

Goats are the answer drocknut, they eat everything, or so I hear. Patty
I've heard that too but mom says no to a goat.

Sorry to hear about your eye, Diane. Hope it heals quickly. Arizona weeds are the worst weeds I have ever seen. Battle them constantly and still come back. A pox on tumbleweeds. Mesquite trees are really cool though, but I found out the first year I was here that I am really allergic to them when they flower. Be careful out there! [/quote] Thank you you hummingbirdstones. Glad I'm not alone in the weed battle. You must be miserable when all the mesquite trees are blooming. I am allergic to Juniper but fortunately we don't have many here. You be careful out there too.

Goats are definitely funny especially when they are young. I wanted to get fainting goats 🐐 but mom says no goats period. Didn't know you were allergic to goats but glad you know that and don't have them.

Well, I did have plans to do a wrap for this challenge but it seems the mesquite trees in my mom's yard had other thoughts. I was mowing weeds (yes, we got lots of weeds this year because of the rain) and somehow I got hit in the eye by a branch. Before you say anything let me assure you I was wearing safety glasses. I now have been blurry in that eye for a few weeks and eye doctor says it may take a few more before the blurriness goes away. I attempted a wrap but it was not pretty or even presentable so I think I'm going to have to sit out this month. Hope to see some good round wraps from you other wrappers. I'm so sad to hear that, but happy to read further in the thread that you are improving. I have weed issues as well, and you have motivated me to at least remember to wear safety glasses. I'm sure glad that the issue is temporary, although painful and annoying. Thanks. Please do wear safety glasses. Eyes are so easily injured. Even safety glasses don't always help but at least it's something to do to try to keep safe.

Thank G-d you didn't go blind in that eye and thank G-d you had safety glasses on. Sounds very painful, though. Here's to quick and thorough healing. (((HUGS))) Thank you 😊

Well..... I got half a wrap done. Does that count? LOL! I got to the bail and lost interest in finishing it. Better not to force it. I don't know what's got into me. I don't feel like doing anything. Half a wrap is better than none. You're not the only one who doesn't feel like doing anything. It's just a temporary lull and I have no doubt you'll be back at it soon. Sending (((((hugs))))

Thank God you still have an Australian Hello!! (You know...a "good eye"!) Ok jokes aside...I'm seriously glad to hear there doesn't seem to be any lasting damage!! It's super scary when all precautions are taken and STILL accidents occur! I hope you totally heal quickly Diane! (Wait...I wasn't poking fun by using the "winky" face!) Well..... You're further ahead than I am! - I've been in the same boat as you. I haven't been on the wheel in a week and a half...and have a half wrapped pendant that's been sitting on the table for about a week! I think I'm going to go out hounding tomorrow. I think I need a "mental health" day!! Australian hello...lol. ok. I think we all need to go out rockhounding for our mental health.

Okay, here goes! One earring it is, at least for now. And a story as well, but first the details: this was an absolute bear to photograph. The bead actually sits straight, but the back of the earring holder was pushing it out. The phosphor bronze wire actually matches the center but not in this photo. Now the story: my parents, when alive, when on numerous trips and always brought me coins. Coins! Not a t-shirt, but coins, and I actually still have many of them. This pair-to-be is of Italian Lire, pre Euro. They may be almost as old as I am. I've had them in my "wrap someday" along with some cousin coins. I'm thinking now they should have stayed there and I should have wrapped the marble of the world instead. . . I've included the back but realized after I photographed it that the building (whatever it is) is upside down. And yes, I'll try to straighten that coil under the bead, ut I've already annealed this darn wire twice. Phosphor bronze--bah, humbug. I didn't have any Italian beads, so I used a Greek one--at least they're neighbors. Cool coin wrap. Great story too. 👏

Hey y'all! Finally got around to getting some pictures of my wrap for this month. The cameo I had ended up being more oval-shaped than I originally thought, but I guess I'd still consider that as round-ish, haha. This wrap is actually a lot lighter than it looks, so I made it to double as both an earring and a pendant! Whichever strikes your fancy. I think this cameo was one of my many finds from local antique shops, though I can't remember for the life of me where specifically I got it!

Very pretty and delicate looking as befitting a cameo.

kate_foundlings - Way to go cyborg! Love the symmetry to the sides and bottom...then the asymmetry to the upper part! Tela nailed the "delicate" comment.

I'm a little late for the party - I lost a week+ to the relatives' visit (and then the cold I caught from them), but the coin is interesting indeed susand24224 - I really like it. The top bead is extra nice. Greek, I think you mentioned, which is pretty cool - Did you get it in change, personally? I'm wondering now, if you'll make a complimentary earring or an opposite ? Earrings can be fun that way. The cameo is quite nice, & as others have said, looks delicate kate_foundlings , but not having a scale, I think I like it as a pendant vs an earring, as there are a bunch of things going on there, & I think would be more appreciated that way. And there are no square corners, so it's roundish Well, I started my round wrap last night - With any luck, I'll maybe pull it off by the weekend - we shall see.... Patty
