Hey guys and gals! Thank you all for such great participation last month. For April, liveoak Patty, as the first to enter last month's challenge, has decided that this month we should all wrap a round thing. I'm thinking this could be a marble or a round cab- a round wrap. I know it has come up before that we don't see many round wraps, so let's put our designer's caps on and see what we can come up with. The first person to enter, chooses the challenge for May. If you would like to pass deciding the challenge, you may pass it to the 2nd person. If they pass, then the third and so on. Remember, this is meant to be a challenge, not a contest. Have fun!!

Oh wow, this is going to be fun! I have a lot of round-ish stones, but I also have this perfect little cameo brooch whose backing came off a long while ago. I've been wanting to turn it into an earring or pendant for forever! Maybe I'll see what I can do this month...

Well, I did have plans to do a wrap for this challenge but it seems the mesquite trees in my mom's yard had other thoughts. I was mowing weeds (yes, we got lots of weeds this year because of the rain) and somehow I got hit in the eye by a branch. Before you say anything let me assure you I was wearing safety glasses. I now have been blurry in that eye for a few weeks and eye doctor says it may take a few more before the blurriness goes away. I attempted a wrap but it was not pretty or even presentable so I think I'm going to have to sit out this month. Hope to see some good round wraps from you other wrappers.

Geez Diane drocknut, I hope you're OK. That sounds painful. Maybe you should just let the weeds grow- a lot of weeds become pretty flowers at some point. Patty... hoping to do a wrap AFTER she gets rid of the week long relative company !

drocknut. Bet that was a surprise. I always feel my eyes are safe because I always wear glasses. And you wore safety glasses. Glad your sight will return to normal. Take care! Pat

Patty... hoping to do a wrap AFTER she gets rid of the week long relative company ! I'm ok. It was painful for a week or so, but the eye drops from the eye doctor have helped a lot. I wish I could just let the weeds grow. Unfortunately, they get really tall, then dry out and create a fire hazard. Some of them do have pretty flowers while the more problem weeds just get big and dry up spewing seeds everywhere.

Yeah, it did surprise me. I didn't even know my eye had gotten hit until I got off the mower and took my glasses off. My eye was sore, but by the next morning, it was swollen and red. Nothing got in the eye, thank goodness, but the branch scratched the cornea and that is taking a while to heal.

Goats are the answer drocknut, they eat everything, or so I hear. Patty

Our area has RENT A GOAT. I doubt if they get the roots! They are cute.

Sorry to hear about your eye, Diane. Hope it heals quickly. Arizona weeds are the worst weeds I have ever seen. Battle them constantly and still come back. A pox on tumbleweeds. Mesquite trees are really cool though, but I found out the first year I was here that I am really allergic to them when they flower. Be careful out there!

I'm so sad to hear that, but happy to read further in the thread that you are improving. I have weed issues as well, and you have motivated me to at least remember to wear safety glasses. I'm sure glad that the issue is temporary, although painful and annoying.

Thank G-d you didn't go blind in that eye and thank G-d you had safety glasses on. Sounds very painful, though. Here's to quick and thorough healing. (((HUGS)))

Well..... I got half a wrap done. Does that count? LOL! I got to the bail and lost interest in finishing it. Better not to force it. I don't know what's got into me. I don't feel like doing anything.

I don't feel like doing anything. Maybe you need a nice walk outside in the sunshine - that usually helps improve your mood. Certainly sounds better than going to pick someone up at the airport . But tomorrow we're headed for a 5 mile hike- whether the relatives like it or not .

Thank God you still have an Australian Hello!! (You know...a "good eye"!) Ok jokes aside...I'm seriously glad to hear there doesn't seem to be any lasting damage!! It's super scary when all precautions are taken and STILL accidents occur! I hope you totally heal quickly Diane! (Wait...I wasn't poking fun by using the "winky" face!) Well..... You're further ahead than I am! - I've been in the same boat as you. I haven't been on the wheel in a week and a half...and have a half wrapped pendant that's been sitting on the table for about a week! I think I'm going to go out hounding tomorrow. I think I need a "mental health" day!!

I'm in with the "laggards" crew--I've got one of two earrings done and I *may* finish the second one before the end of the month. This is complicated from doing a delicate design with phosphor bronze (what was I thinking?). I may be posting one earring for my entry . . .

Okay, here goes! One earring it is, at least for now. And a story as well, but first the details: this was an absolute bear to photograph. The bead actually sits straight, but the back of the earring holder was pushing it out. The phosphor bronze wire actually matches the center but not in this photo. Now the story: my parents, when alive, when on numerous trips and always brought me coins. Coins! Not a t-shirt, but coins, and I actually still have many of them. This pair-to-be is of Italian Lire, pre Euro. They may be almost as old as I am. I've had them in my "wrap someday" along with some cousin coins. I'm thinking now they should have stayed there and I should have wrapped the marble of the world instead. . . I've included the back but realized after I photographed it that the building (whatever it is) is upside down. And yes, I'll try to straighten that coil under the bead, ut I've already annealed this darn wire twice. Phosphor bronze--bah, humbug. I didn't have any Italian beads, so I used a Greek one--at least they're neighbors.
