Yo! Yo! Yo! It's the first Wrapper's Challenge!
The idea is simple. A new challenge every month to get your creative juices going. This is NOT a competition. It is a challenge. You should be challenging yourself to meet the goal. There are no winners or losers. No prizes. No right way or wrong way. Just put on your creative thinking caps and give it your best shot.
Simple. Come up with your masterpiece, post your result and tell us why you chose to do what you did.
There are no sign ups, no commitments, no stress- but, we certainly hope you will join in.
Every month will be a new challenge. Until I can figure out the best way to decide who chooses the challenge, let's say that April will be decided by the first person who posts an entry. That person will PM me their challenge theme by the 1st. Also, post your ideas for who should suggest the new challenge. I'm drawing blanks.
March's Challenge
Let's keep this first one simple. Wrap a rock, or, a cab that you made from a rock, that you found yourself. Bonus points if it is green for March's St Patrick's Day. (Just kidding- there are no points.) And, remember- we want to hear the story. That's it. Do it any way you are inspired to do it. BUT, it must not contain any soldering (unless you use a soldered component like a jump ring in your wrap).
So, get your wire and tools and get wrapping!
ETA- If you absolutely have no rocks around- like me- (I found mine in culvert fill) then you can use a shell or artifact that you found- like an arrowhead or tooth. We want you to play.

Okee-dokee I gotta start digging through some old dig buckets. No idea what I’ll use but I’m pretty sure I’ve not cabbed any of my locally found material yet. I have tumbled some. Should be a fun trip down memory lane as I haven’t gone on a dig in a number of years.

I hadn't considered wrapping a tumbled stone...but I really might consider this! There's a "cage" style wrap that I've seen and pondered. Hmmmm...

Excellent way to start Tela.
And thank you for including found objects, other than rocks.
It leaves a good deal of creativity for those who are locally rock challenged.

I can think of some cabs of material I've collected but may challenge myself more to see if any green ones are around. Hmmmmm.

I've been waiting for floor paint to dry in my new improved space . Watching floor paint dry and having no access to things, is pretty up there on the annoying list.
But today, I finally can walk on it again - so I'm almost in & after the baseboard is on, I can move my cabber back in place.
So don't count me out just yet Tela, I'm trying .
Hopefully someone out there will start the show rolling. It's a tough job, but someone has to do it

I've got my cab picked and a basic design; now I just have to figure out how to *make* the design. Ideas come to me late at night but in the morning they look really, really idiotic. I'm also having a bit of "cognitive dissonance" since to honor the design I have to cover more of the cab than I would like. Woe is me!

Yay! Must be frustrating. I would be trying to convince myself that shoe prints in the paint are the new "thing!"

I have been working on it but had to make cabs first. All of my decent self collected material was already tumbled. So I found a few contenders and cut them and free form cabbed or just slightly changed the shape to make them hopefully wrap-able but they are mostly tumbles I’ll be attempting.

Oh! Also, I’ve officially ordered (and it just arrived) my first “big” order of wire from Rio Grande. Previously I had just bought small lengths from smaller sellers who offer it. I used up that wire though and was happy with the gauge so I finally placed a “big” order! Well, not fully big, I went with the Rio Grande 1/4 lb spools which I’m grateful they offer until I get to the point of being able to do the full pounders. Unfortunately they don’t sell it in every shape. I think I’ll still be needing to order my square and half rounds from some smaller shops (and pay the premium for such small amounts) but for my round at least I got a good bulk quantity price. I wonder if it will feel and work the same?👍

I do have THREE kinds of self collected rocks (we don't have rocks laying around here), and I stabilized one. So I do have some progress to tell about. Tom suggested I try to wrap a Sand Dollar, as I have lots of those. Well I did & it didn't I think I broke it 4 times. Beyond my skill level to wrap something so fragile- bezel set - fine, but the pressure to put on the object when wrapping, is not very forgiving. So I had to scrap that idea.
I think the second half of the floor will just have to wait to get painted so I can use my cabber first !
I mean you have to set your priorities Patty

Beach FindOK, someone has to get this show rolling. My studio is totally in re-do mode, but I came up with an interesting beach find that I had tucked in a bowl, that I rediscovered while cleaning up the mess ! It's a completely worm eaten piece of clam shell. Tom seems to think it looks like it's from another planet. But I thought it was something interesting. The only kind of wrap I could think of was a random curlicue design. Also, there's nothing green about it, except that I started it on St Paddy's Day :~) So I'm certain that someone here can do a better entry for the March challenge. So lets get it going, guys....... I have another one or two that I may submit, if I can get it together. Thanks for getting me motivated, Tela. Patty..... Varnishing her new / reconfigured bench today !
