It looks like you are styling all the way!! How are you going to decorate the wall behind the counter?

Very nice. I hope you don’t get rid of those retro paint colors. 🤓

After that's done I'm going to cover the back wall with sheet metal Noise?

I want to cover the wall mainly for a finished look. I need to tape the sheet rock. Sheet metal is easier than texture and paint and I think it will be a lot better for any splashing. I was going to do Marlite but I figure I'll have storage there and didn't want to put a bunch of holes in it. Also, I have sheet metal in 5ft by 10ft pieces so I can do the entire wall and without any seams in it. The only joint will be the corner.

I was thinking of wallpaper that features a scene like standing on a gravel bar on the side of a picturesque stream. It would not be splash friendly but good for feeling like you were on a fun rockhounding trip.

Dang!! That's an amazing work space! I live in clutter, too many machines, too many slabs, too many projects that get interrupted by other projects and sit around for months, even years. The only think I'd change is it seems like you have a copper drain pipe from the cabber. I'd go clear plastic hose all the way in case it ever clogs with slurry so you can see where the blockage is. Having water and a sink that drains outside and all those power outlets looks like heaven!

Good Golly Miss Molly Gary!! That is bordering on "professional" looking!! That really looks SO practical and well thought out...especially the 45 degree angles!

I don't understand what the 45 degree angles are for? How do you use them? After I shape my preform on the wheels I mark the girdle and dop it. I hold the dop stick horizontal and at a 45 degree angle to the wheel. These marks help me maintain that 45 as I can just look straight down and adjust the angle. I tend to sit pretty high and look down at everything while I'm working. Don't know if this is the right way because I'm basically self taught. I start grinding all the way around the cab keeping the dop stick parallel to the ground an at a 45 to the wheel. When the wheel reaches the girdle line I've established the first step of the dome. I might actually draw 2 more angles in between 45 and 90 because those are usually the next steps for me. This makes a dome of sorts but with hard angles. Then just start rounding everything out. It makes it fairly easy to get an even dome. I have stopped after the first 45 and done flat top cabs too. Pretty cool looking on the right stone but you have to be pretty accurate for it to not be wonky.

Having water and a sink that drains outside and all those power outlets looks like heaven! It's just copper elbows. Clear tubing is hooked to the elbow. The elbows are swaged so I had to kind of stretch the tube over to fit. It was a fitting that I already had available and doesn't reduce the ID of the pipe. I wanted a little tighter bend to go through the countertop then I thought I could get with the poly tube. The clear tube goes for a few feet to the back of the cabinet and then into the 1 1/2" abs drain. I figure I'll get some clogs eventually but I think the way I'm set up they'll be pretty easy to deal with. BTW, my workspaces have always been ridiculously cluttered. I have more storage to put in here and hope to unclutter my in the house space where I do my wrapping. I'm been working hard at getting rid of loads of stuff I've accumulated for years. We'll see how long I can keep it up!

I'd love to do stainless steel but it's a little cost prohibitive. Plus the fact that I can readily get 10' x 5' sheets is appealing to me. The counter top is 9' long and the space to the ceiling is about 4.5'. I'll probably make a piece on the bottom that kicks out and then down an inch to kind of flash in the counter top. Still trying to figure out how to do it but still be able to slide out the cabinet if need be. I'll probably just make an L shaped piece, slip it behind the wall sheet metal and then caulk it.

Very nice. I hope you don’t get rid of those retro paint colors. 🤓 It reminds me of one of my grade schools. Also reminds me of my dad since he used them in his hobbies for years. They are the original cabinets out of a local school that my wife worked at from about 19 years old to retirement. I even have a scrap of the counter top that my dad cut of to fit his space. I'm going to fashion a door for the missing drawer space with it. It was interesting when someone came by the other day that had gone to that school years ago. She had a little deja vu moment.
