I forgot about these, a couple of blue boy thunder eggs from Richardson Ranch.

This one I’m thinking is a black skinned agate also, but it has far more tan coloring than the other ones. The bluish color of the material itself is the same, though, so it’s got to be one.

Fred really reminds me of bone or some type of fossil with cells. Very cool rock.

Fred really reminds me of bone or some type of fossil with cells. Very cool rock. Thanks! He is like that through and through. I cut off a small, half inch slice once. Just about destroyed my saw blade. I could tell from the thin piece that the ‘cells’ are filled with clear chalcedony. I’m not sure what the base rock is. Maybe a Jasper of sorts. It is such a unique rock and I love it.

Velo, I have a question about your high speed Rebel 17.
I have a Thumbler's model B & I've been thinking to change out the motor to a high speed one, for more efficient grinding.
Is the barrel & liner holding up to rock grinding at high speed
Appreciate any input, Patty

It is holding up very well so far. I haven’t noticed any wear to the barrel or lining. I’ve had it running 24/7 since I got it in March, I believe.

Thank you Velo. I'm shopping for a Dayton high speed motor as we speak.

I used to worry about the rubber liner wearing out, but since I’ve learned about making patches for it out of 1/16th or 1/8th rubber and E 6000, I’m not so much. I recently made a patch for a lid on one of my small tumblers and it worked very well. The high-speed motor is nice and really does chew through rough rocks. Most of what we collect needs quite a few course stages and the faster motor really helps with those.

Two of the barrel lid liners on the Harbor Freight tumbler have worn thru already .... and one of the barrels developed a leak at the bottom ... not worn thru but leaking at the junction of side and bottom. So far I have been able to replace with spare parts from the Barrels that have gone to Tumbler Heaven. Any repair recipe would be appreciated.

It’s rather like patching a tire tube. I think this is originally Hanks idea, but I forget exactly. I cut out the size rubber piece that I need. Make sure that you do not get silicon rubber. Neoprene rubber is good. Then scuff up both sides that will be glued together with sandpaper, clean with alcohol and let dry. Put a thin layer of e6000 on both sides and let it sit for a minute, then press them together firmly and let cure for 24 hours.

Wow! I think this is my favorite Bot! It still needs many weeks in course stage, but I love how it’s turning out so far.

jasoninsd Here’s three of the smaller prairie agates that really caught my eye. They have been tumbling near constantly since you sent them to me so many months ago. One is finally ready for the vibe. The other two are just a course run or two away. They take so long to tumble and are so worth it! The one on the right is my favorite, it’s absolutely beautiful!

That one one the right has some really amazing pattern in it! It really looks near perfect coming out of the coarse stage!
That close-up of the Botswana makes it look like it has Parallax Shadow Banding in it! (Which is wicked cool if it does!!)

Parallax, I’ll have to Google that one. That Botswana is only about 2/3rds inch thick so it’s almost like a Botswana ‘coin’. I absolutely love it!

“Parallax is a displacement or difference in the apparent position of an object viewed along two different lines of sight…” Um, Ok I’ll have my wife explain it to me. I’m rather smart but not that kind of smart.
