jasoninsdOk, explain it to me in your words. I took the picture head on, not at an angle. I have read, read, read, and read again the technical definition, but I don’t get it. And she’s tucking the kid in bed.

Easiest explanation is it makes it look like there's shadows being created by the bands...

See in that darker group of banding..it looks like it's creating shadows in that picture.

If you move that Botswana around in the light, the "Shadow" will appear to move around if it's actually Parallax Banding...

Wow! I think this is my favorite Bot! It still needs many weeks in course stage, but I love how it’s turning out so far. This one is stunning!

Ok, shadow banding I am familiar with, so if they are ‘parallax’ , it sounds like a bit of illusion is involved, rather like how the Mona Lisa’s eyes follow you from whichever angle look at the picture.

I pulled the soup and put it on ice for a week while moving. A bunch of the smaller rocks were ready for the vibe, so I have them running and should be done in around 10-12 days. Some more rocks are ready to move onto smaller tumblers, once one becomes available. Then, as I often do (squirrel!) I decided to pick up 10 pounds of 60 grit aluminum oxide meant for sandblasting and run 15lbs of fresh local Jasper, chert and so forth, for at least a month in the rebel without clean outs. After a month I’ll check on the general progress and see if more rock needs to be added. After that experiments done I’ll get back to the soup. Maybe.
