The tumbler barrel is massive! Is that a Rebel 17? That picture makes it look like it's a converted 5-gallon bucket! LOL

Awesome! I finally saved up enough and ordered a QT-66 from Lortone yesterday! I already have a 33A and am so stoked to learn how to use the QT-66! Next I think I'll save for the 12-pound barrel. The capacity of that looks massive!

The capacity of that looks massive! You will like the large diameter barrels. They’re definitely more efficient for coarse grinding, plus being a lot bigger. You’ll be surprised how much faster you will grind through your rock supply. I run two QT-12 bases with four 12 lb barrels. As soon as a finished barrel comes off, a fresh one goes back on. I need to watch for another base. The 12 pounders feed a 33B for fine through polish. The 12 pounders don’t keep up. The 33B runs one empty barrel half the time.

I think that's what will be the most fun, trying to work out the new process flow by adding the QT66. In the 33B I have a barrel tumbling only stage 1 and the other doing stages 2 though polish. I like the idea of the QT running the stage 1 rough and then using the 33B for the finer stages... I can't wait to get it!!

Dang this is the stuff of dreams! I ordered 5 Lbs of LSA from Kingsley North. I was not disappointed with the quality but this batch...WOW. Ever since you started this thread I have been trying to get more, but alas everybody is sold out (hmmm wonder why?) I still have about 2 1/2 pounds remaining... Of course this is not even a drop in the AR-12 or the Model B.

I can hardly wait to look in the barrel.

Ok iamchris. You goaded me into it. Actually, it’s been six days so a cleanout was due. They got a decent amount of shaping for only a week, especially the smalls. It’s a lot easier to see what’s in there now too. Here are a few photos. I poured out the first half, washed and photographed them then did the same for the second half. I stirred them a little in between photos. First half Second half One closeup for pebblesky. There will be quite a few of these in the batch.

They’re rolling again. The barrel still looked pretty full so I didn’t add any replacement material. They’re tumbling with 16 oz of water and a pound of 46/70 grit.

I'm all out of LSA initialisms, so I'm going to pretend I don't have to keep the fad going because this is a new thread 😆
Looking nice! Thank you for sharing!

I really REALLY like that one! (Just point your finger at any of them and that's the "one" I'm referring to! LOL)

Another pound or so for replacement. That is a real nice looking batch! so, you keep getting these from the same guy? Thanks. It’s going to continue to be a fun batch. I’d like to keep it all LSAs for as long as possible. I’ve been buying Lakers forever. Lately, I’ve been getting a lot at the same place. It would be neat to have a really big one in there but their price goes up exponentially as the size goes up. Very nice looking batch!!! Thanks. It hasn’t made it far yet. It has been a long time since I started a completely new batch from scratch. I really REALLY like that one! (Just point your finger at any of them and that's the "one" I'm referring to! LOL) Yeah, I like that one too, LOL. Most of the larger pieces were kind of hand picked. This batch has made me feel like a newbie tumbler. I want to check the barrel every day. Hopefully some will will be ready to move on at the next cleanout.

Completed the second cleanout this morning. I was able to pick a few smalls out to move on. After only two weeks, there weren’t any larger pieces ready for the next stage. I’m pretty happy with the barrel so far. Here are a few photos. First half of the batch, stirred between photos. Second half stirred between photos. Closeup of few that caught my eye. Here are the smalls sorted to move on. Here’s what went in as replacement for what has ground away and been taken out. The barrel is back to about 3/4 full and rolling again with a pound of water and a pound of 46/70 grit. This batch is really a fun one. Thanks for looking.
