khara is that a slab of wingate plume between the Biggs and the willow creek on the bottom? If so… dayum girllll… Yep. It is going to require some careful working though. The areas of workability are quite narrow. I’m really hoping that someone can get one or two really nice cabs out of it. That’s one of the materials I wish I’d known to buy more of way back when I first got it. I will contact you on the batcave. I’m really hoping to capture some of that red that is showing on the sides even though I saw in some other posts it’s good to work it parallel with the material, for lack of better words.

Me too! I was hoping some of the Bat Cave would make it to me and the Chinese Jasper looks amazing as well as the Royal Eyes Cabenite. That's ok, I'm expecting jasoninsd to add some big slabs of Fairburn Agate. (JK I know that's sacrilegious) That's actually really funny you were "joking" about that! I was actually looking through one of my buckets on the table last night (or the night before)...and found Fairburn slices in one of them. None of them are "A" grade...but I thought I might put some in the box. That way someone would at least have the opportunity to say they had and worked a few. I forgot who was after me...and now I know for sure who I have to send the box to! LOL There we’re multiple pieces of Batcave (as well as Vistaite). Sorry about the Chinese Jasper.🙂 I figure you two were close enough next in line that you’ll end up with something of this stuff. You can always duke it out after Robin’s turn!🤓

Probably won’t get that red. Unless it goes up in to the jasper in other spots. Bummer. I’ll probably still try. Maybe a single slab off the edge, before cutting it the parallel way? Unless it’s too matrixy over there. I don’t have the rock in hand right now.

Unless it’s too matrixy over there. I don’t have the rock in hand right now. I’ve processed enough of this stuff that if I personally was to cut that piece. I’d do two cuts. First identify the main area you want to capture. It looks best when you cut the tan down into the dark brown and gives you that nice bullseye pattern. I’d first take approximately 1/8” off the top. Then right where the matrix comes into the jasper. Cut it off clean right there. Try to get each cut as parallel to one another as possible. I’ve found having a thicker slab and higher dome with this material looks better. That way you get a wide variation in the color change as it goes down into the darker brown.

Take your time with it. You could take a thin face off each side to really understand what that matrix is doing. Nothing uglier that having that matrix break through that porcelain jasper, if that makes sense

It looks like you put some amazing material back in for replacement. Hope I can live up to the high standard being set by the members with this box!

I have a question regarding this stone color card: Did you use a machine that could laminate the piece of paper and the small stones on it?

I have a question regarding this stone color card: Did you use a machine that could laminate the piece of paper and the small stones on it? Nothing quite so advanced.🤓 The shiny part is tape. I didn’t have any double sided tape so I taped a piece of tape down to stick the stones to.🤣 Those are little mini cabs… in case there’s anyone down the line who does metalsmithing, they are fun to set as accents along with larger cabs.

Oh I see! Thanks for the explanation. These mini cabs are so adorable! I can't wait to see how people will do with them.
