realrockhound I mailed the box after work today, she said it should be delivered Saturday 👍 Even better. Should give me enough time to gather the rest of the material I want to throw in and get it out monday.

Lil birdy told me the box of rocks showed up today. Said it’s in rough condition. Probably leave work early. Should go out asap. Monday at the latest

Hopefully nothing else broke. F'n PO got home late, did manage to go through the box. And yes, more stuff broke. I’m going to be a team player here and take the broken slabs (one is completely useless at this point) and replace replace them. I’m getting the box repacked today. It 100% will go out early Monday.

If the broken pieces are somthing that could be good tumbled, you might leave it in. I know there are a couple of tumblers downstream from you on the list.

I only tumble (for now), so anything that’s busted that I could chuck into a barrel is fine by me! I wouldn’t know what to do with any slabs or cabs?

Well.. like I said, there is more than enough tumbling material in there for you guys. A large portion of us do lapidary. If I can free up some space to accommodate those guys, I’m going to.

So here's the deal. This box is already loaded full of a lot of crap. So there is a potential that all that I had selected wont fit. So I want to post pics of what I was planning on putting in and let you all decide on what you would most like to have in there in the event I cant fit it all! Nyedegger Plume Ultra rare. Royal Eyes Cabenite Vistaite Trim saw rough. Rare Willowcreek. Morrisonite. healed fractures. Rare Ultra rare richardson Sunset and Chinese jasper. Chinese (Mined exclusively by my grandpa) somewhere in oregon Rare. Batave jasper, rough. (you process) The lot Box will go out monday. I'm busy today and tomorrow, so will have my dad mail it first thing monday.

I wouldn’t know how to vote on your stuff, but am looking forward to seeing what other people think.

So... I was able to use my brain and created more space in the box. With that.. Everything I selected (see above) is now in the box. Coming into this, I knew almost anything put in there, I would more than likely already have material of and thats perfectly fine with me. I mostly wanted to be a part of this to put stuff in peoples hands most wouldn't acquire without spending big bucks or knowing the right people. I want to be clear that there has been some nice stuff put in there, even some material I really wanted (and got it). However.. as mentioned, I already had a bunch of some and didn't need anymore. Now, i'm probably going to ruffle a few feathers and potentially offend or piss people off. It is definitely not my intention. If thats the case, please direct your hate mail to my inbox. REMINDER!!! This box is to be AUCTIONED OFF!!! While going through the box, I encountered some good/fair stuff and what I would consider a large amount of stuff that I personally felt should've never been placed in there in the first place. I was honestly pretty disappointed. I could have honestly cared less if I took a single thing out of that box. But if i'm being frank, no ones going to want to bid on some of that stuff. This in return.. makes it to where anything that is worth a damn gets taken and we're left with crap to auction. A great example of this would be if someone takes the vistaite, then replaces it with ohio flint, its not particularly fair to someone down the line who may have material to match the vistaite. Then for the next person if all they see is crap in the box, might not be as generous as myself, and just put more crap in the box, repeating the cycle until we are left with material no one wants to bid on. If you cant pay back the debt, dont take out the loan. I hate playing the badguy and the rock Nazi. And i'm sure i'm coming across as an entitled rock snob asshole trying to dictate things (so be it). I understand that not everyone has what myself or others have, perfectly fine, but moving forward lets try our bests to create a box of material someone would want to bid on. Now that i'm off my high horse, Heres the box packed. I took the liberty to reorganize stuff, made compartments so the tumbling rough, etc is confined. All the slabs are tightly concealed safe in the middle. I added more packaging to make sure nothing breaks. Heres, what I took. What I added Nyedegger plume agate, Willow creek jasper, Chinese jasper, Richardsons rock ranch sunset jasper, Morrisonite jasper, Royal eyes cabenite jasper, Vistaite jasper, Batcave jasper.

Very nice replacements! Knew we should of gone after you 😅 I've never heard of that royal eyes. Is that a thunder egg? Yes and no. Its kind of a weird mudball that has cavities in it. Sometimes it opens up to crazy patterns with orbs. Its weird because unlike thundereggs, where it forms on the inside, this stuff is almost like it forms from outside in. Its really hard to tell what its going to do when you cut it.

Since I participated in the game I wanted to chime in. I believe we are all playing by the rule, by posting what have been taken and what have been put back in. So far I don't see a pattern of taking something like the Vistalite and replacing it with something like Ohio Flints. But I have limited knowledge about the values of some of the slabs, so please ignore me if you see something I don't see. The box wasn't super packed to begin with, and I did add a variety of materials to fill the spaces, with no intention of reducing the value of the box, although these materials might not be super valuable or rare.

Photo UPDATE. I figured I’d be able to post before and after photos today since the IT pro was here two hours today. I have taken the pictures, but that’s as far as it goes. And there they sit on my cell phone.
If things don’t work out by Monday, he will return. Sorry for the delay. I’ll post when possible.

No offense taken here. The auction is pretty much what I thought the point of this was to begin with. That, and the fun of it (it’s not always just about the rocks). There is some beautiful material you put in, of which I am familiar with none of it lol. By the time I get the box I’ll have to keep it an extra day or so, simply so that we can go through and study everything.

The point of this is NOT the auction. It's to have a good time. In the past, there was always a mixture of good and bad rocks. But, you have to remember-- one man's trash is another man's treasure. People put in what they can and not everyone can add the "good stuff". I hope that no one feels like they need to pass up what they love to keep it in the box for the auction. At the same time, don't hoard the good stuff. If you have mundane rocks, try to add more to make up for what you are taking. Lots of things have ended up in the box- templates, finished tumbles, tools, special cabs... Add what you can people.
These boxes always end up with more than what they start with and have always had a good mixture for everyone. We don't usually have an auction for what is left. The box goes around and what's left starts a new box. Don't get hung up by the auction. It'll all work out.
Have fun. No hard feelings.
