I should’ve mentioned, one of the biggest factors of convenience is the table height is higher so no bending or stooping at all!

Omg, I didn’t even know there was such a thing. I have a utility sink in my backyard. Similar setup with the hose to faucet for running water and then a bucket catch below or sometimes a pvc pipe to a good drain area in my yard. But this fish cleaning sink has actual counter space. That’s excellent. 👍👍

Yes that counter space 🙌 and a little drawer and catch all basket 🥰 so many reasons. I only know abt it cause I’m a RV’er. Not to sound like a sales person but it was also under $100 on Amazon.

I love this idea! I currently have a laundry sink in my house that I keep a 5-gallon bucket in. I like it because I don't have to slouch to wash the rocks. The only issue is I have to schlep that bucket into the backyard to dump it out, which is a pain.

I really love this idea. The height of the table is super important. If I start to check for a fishing table on craigslist...

Nice setup! You are exactly right about the height. Once I started using an antique double wash basin, my back felt alot better than when I did it in a barrel.

That's a cool table! I have a tip too, not sure if it'd be applicable with your process but it's great for anyone doing cleanouts in buckets. When I see people wash out a load of rocks, they pour the rocks into a colander, then fill the barrel with water and pour it over the pile of rocks several times to rinse them off. Sometimes using the hose/faucet to spray down each one individually. Seems to me like a waste of water (particularly if you have to schlep it all outside), and tedious if you are hosing them individually I replaced colanders with nut milk bags. Basically cheese cloth sewn into a pouch. I pour the rocks and slurry into the nut milk bag and cinch it closed. Then it's a permeable bag, can dunk the whole thing into a bucket and massage it around to clean the rocks all at once. I use a multi-bucket system. The first bucket, getting the initial dunk, the water gets very dirty. But by next week the sediment has settled, so you can reuse it. A second and third rinse bucket can clean off any dirty water that carries over from the first bucket. This way I'm not using any additional water during cleanouts, and cleaning the whole bag of rocks takes just a minute. I also like that I can keep them grouped together, sometimes I'll clean out multiple barrels at once and have 4 cleaned bags of rocks sitting in the same bucket, waiting to get reloaded. We are 2 peas🫛 ! I JUST was thinking abt cheesecloth/nylon tube attached to the drain tube to catch the sediment and just toss. Then the bucket is just a fail safe, grey water easily tossed on a garden or something. But a sock of rocks is another level!

Love the portable table idea & the cheesecloth one too. Thanks to both of you for the good ideas. Patty

I've been putting off improving my method for a couple years until I came up with a better practical and neater idea. This is doable. Thanks for sharing rockinronda.

That is now officially a Rockhounding table! That it is! Although it was never used for fish either, didn’t catch a single one on our trip😞 (wrong time of year).
