rockjunquie I have cut Larimar once, a piece that a friend gave me for practice. Not great quality but they thought it would hold up. I have the cab somewhere, ended up near half the size of the preform, even with starting on a well used hard 220 wheel. Hope you do better.

That's what I'm afraid of and the piece is small to start with. Someone said once to soak it in water for a day ahead of time. I'll try it.

A friend of mine was a larimar dealer he would go to the D.R. he doesn't soak it in water when he cuts. Just thought I'd share that if it's good quality it should stay together. I've cut a larimar cab and to me it was similar in consistency to turquoise. I have a few chunks left to do. That one has nice turtle back. It'll make a fine cab plus slow and easy. I think you'll be fine. Soaking it in water. Kind of scares me. It's already soft but I don't know. rockjunquie

I had to work around a few fractures and they broke when cutting, but otherwise it stayed together. I have hope that I can pull it off.

So many beautiful preforms, and such great variety! Can't wait to see what you whip up here.
I have to ask about "DH." Are those his initials or does it stand for something? Designated husband is the one I usually read it as, but maybe dat hubby or dat hottie could be options too. π

DH is old internet shorthand for Dear Husband.
