That turned out great, Tela! I really like it a lot. Thanks Robin! Now everyone knows my taste. This was truly meant for me and me alone. I just love elephants.

Here it is. I tried to get good pictures, but this is about as good as I could get it. The 8mm blue topaz looks really washed out. The setting for it is silver and the bail is pot metal.
After I did the frame, I really liked it as is, but wanted a gem in the forehead. After that I needed balance, so I did the trunk with 20g wire. Then the ears looked plain and thin, so I added copper crimp beads to the 18g frame. What I like about the crimp beads is that they aren't perfect and remind me of Indian or African handmade trade beads. The uneven patina was kinda sorta on purpose. I was going for an African elephant, but I guess it could be Indian.
This isn't very big which made it kinda hard to work the heavy g wire in small spaces. All in all, I am happy with it, but it took a lot more work than it looks like.
This has been really fun! I'm glad we had the extra time, though. I've enjoyed seeing Mr Owl and Scorpion and can't wait to see the rest! Well that looks 100 times better than I imagined in my head. Damn good job!!!

From his pincers to his tail-very realistic
Even his bottom is scorpion like. A work of art.
I'm only wondering if you had a model, he's so realistic
Patty
Well I have seen a few live scorpions living here in Arizona. Those are way more realistic ;-)

drocknut I love your scorpion! Such fascinating prehistoric-like creatures, and you captured the essence. I especially like the change in "binding" style on the tail, it really adds a lot. Thank you.

Manta Ray. Finally got this guy finished ! Overall, I'm pretty happy with the way it came out. I started with a tutorial from Oksana Trukhan, although, I downsized it 60% to make it a more wearable sized pendant. Finished pendant is 2 3/8" wide X 3 1/2" to top of bail. I liked it, as it was simple & not too heavy (as many wire wrapped rays, that I've seen, are). Thanks for the challenge - It took me 2 months, BUT it's done 😁. I'm looking forward to seeing what Susan picks out for the new bi-monthly challenge Patty

I opened it up and exclaimed OMG! So, DH had to ask what was wrong. I told him you posted your challenge and he, of course, had to come over and look over my shoulder. We both LOVE it!! I really like that it isn't over woven and that those negative spaces are so perfect!! You did such a great job keeping it all symmetrical. And to top it off- it looks like a ray. Great job!
This challenge has been bringing out the best in everyone.

This challenge has been bringing out the best in everyone. Thank you, Tela (and DH ).
I liked it for just that reason- it wasn't over done and heavy looking.
I was just glad it worked out
I'd agree it was a good challenge-wait a minute- it was my challenge - but even so, it was a pretty good one.

liveoak Patty, s/he is wonderful! Everyone else has said part of what I think, so in summary, great pattern choice, great execution, and very wearable creation. I *really* like this guy!
