Hi everyone! Nice, very nice looking batch here. Love the dendritic theme and bummed I missed it. Life has been crazy stupid for me lately - sorry I've not been posting. Hope everyone is doing well and I'll try to pop on and share more.

I'll scold him properly when he gets home tonight. He won't know what hit him! 🤣🤣 I was having a hell of a time getting good pics on mine because the slight milky agate was skewing the photos with the light. I need to post a back lit photo tonight just so you can see what a beauty of a dendrite was in that cab. Things about the size of a dime, a real ripper.

Might just be the lighting and how it’s setting in the photo. That thing is bolts on perfect. I have some tools I use to make my cabs fit perfectly back into the stencils they were drawn from. Unless my stencils are wonky 🤣🤣

I am loving these contests because not only am I seeing a variety of options that I hadn’t considered, but I am also learning about preferences I didn’t even know I have! This time I learned that my brain cares more about “balance” than shape, pattern, or color. Since people have been doing such a variety of different things for the contest it’s become easier to learn what I like and why! Simply watching you guys compete is helping me narrow down what I want to do when I start cutting.

Since people have been doing such a variety of different things for the contest it’s become easier to learn what I like and why! Simply watching you guys compete is helping me narrow down what I want to do when I start cutting. Basically my criteria in voting is #1 does it match the theme first and foremost. Then I start looking at how well each cab is cut. Find the best cuts, then narrow down to difficulty of the cut. Then let’s say I find 3 cabs i grade the same on difficulty of cut and perfection, then I finish off with material. I like seeing rarity or best examples of a particular material. When I first started voting, I voted on how cool a material looked. Then when I started cabbing, I quickly realized how big of a component the skill aspect was. When showcasing a piece, I like to see it presented in the best way possible. Obviously, this is just my preference and everyone has their own things they look for or like in a cab. It’s all subjective at the end of the day.

I wish I was that analytic about it. Husband was drooling over 3 - both the material and the presentation. He kept pointing out all the reasons why it was awesome. I just picked out the one I thought was super pretty.
I wonder if others here vote for it based on difficulty, etc. That's an interesting way to choose!

Congratulations miket! Your cab is fantastic and a clear winner in a crowded field of winners. Honestly when I saw your entry my first thought was to change the name of the contest back to Killer Cab Contest
