Dear Rock Tumbling Forum Friends and Friends to Be, I've been feeling pretty guilty about the number of posts and the amount of help I seek daily. I wanted to share this so you can all maybe understand why I ask so much of you! Ok, so today, grabbed one bin of rocks. I first start out by washing all the yuck off of them, For some reason, I am allergic to unwashed slabs. Could be the oil used, could be some old river funk, who knows really!!! Anyway, This is a photo of what comes out of a bin: So, I'm going to include a few close ups so you can see that this is about 3 layers of slabs... And, if you look really closely, you'll see why I'm sometimes head scratching.... Rhodonite? Are you sure? ? So of these bins, I try and do 2 a day. Whatever I can't get, I post questions about here. Which everyone has been really awesome helping out and nobody has said anything to make me feel so bad, that's just me feeling kind of guilty. That all being said, it sure is fun sorting through all of this stuff! I think this is growing on me.... XOXOXO, Charity - ME!

Just enjoying looking. In the last photo, what is the gray one on the right with the crossing darker lines?

I should have asked which ones..not which one! Also, the plumes are in there, just buried! I guess my point is of all of this being 1 bin, and me doing 2 bins...multiply that by the amount I don't know, that means I'm barely even asking! LOL kidding

I look forward to your posts- they're inspiring and invigorating so please keep em coming. THANK YOU for taking the time to photograph and share all of these, especially if you have to clean em first. We can all appreciate how much time and effort goes into that!
I took note of the templates made with thick, white marks- gonna have to try that next.. seems like it would leave a lot more room for movement when outlining preforms.

Thank you! realrockhound - Now that we're back on the same page, I agree with that Disaster Peak comment. I bet you kept thinking WTF is this girl going on about??? 1dave - Thank you for confirming that one. I'm glad to see someone with your knowledge lending a hand to a beginner like me. Thanks so much! khara - It is like winning the lottery, but being paid in foreign currency that you're just not sure the value of. Or like getting paid in slabs lol orneryboi - Thanks for that! It's kind of hard to tell when I'm getting annoying, so I give you permission to rough me up if I get out of line. The washing art is the funnest part, which I suppose would be like when one of you actual hounds cuts open a good one! The lazy part comes in when I start begging for ID's, I wanted to show that I'm IDing more than I'm posting for help... or so I tell myself so I can sleep at night. aGates - I don't want you to feel jealous! To be honest, your ability to work with the materials and bring out their true beauty makes me kind of jealous too! A lot of the artists I've seen posting pictures of their work I think to myself, "Wow! I can't believe that's what they turn into!" On the jealous note, I hoped some of the real hounds would look at the pictures playing a little "Where's Waldo, trying to spot what they knew. (Which is why I included so many close-ups.) I was hoping someone would have fun with that. (not necessarily post a reply, just have fun looking) That all said, thank you to everyone! You are the easiest people ever to chat with. You guys are "gemmy."
