Love it! Good to see you buddy! You got any new cabs to show? I do...but I haven't taken pics of them yet! LOL I'm going to get on the saws tomorrow...and maybe get a few more cabs done. I'll probably post pics in a day or two...

Oh man, your pile makes me jealous! I had barely started learning about the rocks in my yard when the “collection” landed in my lap. I don’t have the foundation or experience to even guess at things, yet. I don’t know if a label is wrong until I start looking up each and every thing I find a label for to see if anything in the box looks similar 😑

Same boat Miss cabby, I was given a collection too. The only difference is I'm you one year later, meaning I have had the collection for almost a year and I'm still lost and unboxing it. Not only do I have to look up almost everything still, I have embarrassed myself constantly asking very silly questions about general rock knowledge. You used the word "Peridot" the other day, I'm still calling things "red color, green color." (Meaning I don't know what peridot is and haven't looked it up yet.) I know squat about rocks, but from a year of research I can spot ID easy Jaspers now. Keep at it, you're starting out ahead of the game. You at least started with a yearning for hounding. When i acquired mine, it took awhile for me to see the beauty in it, and then I started falling for them. Now I have dreams about finding them! My dreams are of cut slabs, because that's the bulk of my collection! So I'll be walking along in nature discovering piles of cut slabs... which I don't think happens IRL Anyway, nice talking to you and following your progress! You make me feel better about my incessant questions, so please stay on this forum and let the folks who know something help you!

Sigh. Too bad I wasn't given a collection by anyone. My son might be in a similar situation one day though. He knows my RTH id so hopefully he will dig out my posts if he ever becomes slightly interested...

If I hadn’t gotten the collection now I would have ended up with it in another 30 years or so, anyway! So I guess I can view it as getting a 30 year head start on it 🤣
Slabs are my current dream as well! Yeah, I want to do some cabbing and tumbling at some point, probably even faceting and carving… at least I did at first. but right now I just see a massive amount of mystery rocks and a couple of saws.
