Started cutting out some of my old Bruneau Jasper stash last week. Here are some of the results, with more to go. I posted some time back that the source was closed due to a government declaration of Wilderness Area status. I've since learned that one or two digs outside the Wilderness boundaries are still producing small amounts of material but for all intents and purposes this wonderful classic Idaho jasper is no longer available to a new generation of cutters.

That’s one thing I love about this material. Takes a hell of a polish.

Yes! They look like a chocolate confectioner's hi-end, delicious offering. Great cutting, Rick!

Many thanks to you and others who've commented. The material is classic, like other so-called "porcelain" jaspers from the same region: Willow Creek, Carrasite, Morrisonite, Whiskey Creek etc. It's a pleasure to cut.

Those are really nice. I actually thought the area was fully closed down long ago. At least some is still being produced. Those ones with the white areas are interesting. Haven’t seen that before.

Yes, it was shut down several years ago. But I've recently seen posts asking about availability of new rough so I thought I'd mention the closure. The material with white is one of several variations in the material's patterns. It works nicely for matched pairs or pendant-earring trios.

Great looking cabs Rick. Bruneau has always been one of my favorite cabbing material. You really maximized their potential. Thanks for showing.

WOW! Gorgeous! Two of them really stand out, at least for me: 1 o'clock and 4 o'clock.

Stunners Rick...every single one of them!
Thanks for the updated info on the "availability" of the material. I guess it's kind of like Dryhead Agates...closed...except a small backdoor...
