Hello again, resident pain the the you know what. First I want to ask a general ID question. I've got a bunch of material that's nearly identical - labeled "Succor Creek" "Cripple Creek" and "Deer Sky." Are all of these locations near each other or something? How important is having the right creek name? On that note, I've got a bunch of these jaspers labeled Owyhee. I tried picking one of each kind, but I may have overlapped a bit. If so I'm sorry. So I know there has to be more to that - based on finding owyhee war bonnet, owyhee orbicular, and owyhee gem. Anyone who wants is able to expand on these names, please do! They are all too different to be just plain owyhee. 1 2 3 Cripple Creek - thanks realrockhound 4 5 6 - Monarch - Thank you catmandewe7 - Not Owyhee - Disaster Peak - Thanks dad. I mean realrockhound . 8 - Owyhee Gem - Thank you catmandewe9 10 Owyhee Mountain Dendritic jasper - Thanks rockjunquie 11 - Owyhee Sunset Jasper 12 13 Either Owyhee Flower or could be Indian War Bonnet aka War Bonnet Jasper - Thanks rockjunquie 14 Maybe Red Robin Picture

That second one is amazing and I think they nailed it on the cab outline.

It's funny you said that chris1956. Not being a cabber sometimes I wonder about the cab marks. Sometimes I think this guy had a great eye for finding a perfect spot, other times I think he just got as many as possible out of a slab. I often wondered if the writing was an indication of what was good quality - meaning if it isn't marked up, maybe its a keeper? But then again 90 percent is drawn all over so maybe nothings a keeper to him.

I like Owyhee with blue/green and dendrites. The ones that look like cactus have a fracture line and will frequently fracture.

I have the Hans Gamma book, Rock Treasures of Oregon. You have some really nice slabs there. They made me get my book out.
10 looks to be a dead ringer for Owyhee Mountain Dendritic jasper.
13 looks like it could be Indian War Bonnet aka War Bonnet Jasper.

I would guess at owyhee gem maybe on 10? 2 - owyhee dendritic? Is there such a thing at just owyhee picture? If so then thats my guess for 3 and 9.
The rest I don't have a guess. I know they aren't the war paint ones, unless that comes in different colors. That concludes my owyhee knowledge.

I was way off. Quit making me embarrass myself realrockhound and help a brother out. Or do you like to watch me make a fool of myself. Are you twisted man? rockjunquie thank you! I see I was already wrong on my guesses. When we figure these all out, I'll edit the post and add the real names. stardiamond - i haven't seen any like that with different color dendrites. I'll have to look that up!

The pattern is blue green with regular color dendrites and are scenic.

stardiamond I think I have close to that but nothing as dendritic yet. Maybe I'll find some in the preforms -

rockjunquie - 13 could be owyhee flower - based on the hans website too. I have a few labeled war paint, not as colorful as this one though.
