There are 93 named varieties of Owyhee jaspers and lots of small pocket or un-named varieties. There are a couple of different books on them, might be something to watch out for. Tony That is a crazy naming system.

Does anyone have a picture for the Owyhee Jackpot jasper? it’s basically just a more vibrant blue/green color than they typical blues you see in owyhee jaspers. I have some at the house. Personally, it’s not that special, but it’s rarity makes it pretty valuable www.ebay.com/itm/364896415740Here’s a old listing on eBay to show you the color I’m talking about

Here's another war bonnet. This one from Hans Gamma and Lauritz Jenson pg. 91. This book has a HUGE section on Owyhee picture jaspers.
Notice the yellow and not much green. Yours has a spot of light green.

#'s 6 and 8 are driving me nuts. I know I have seen them, but I can't find anything like them in all my books.

Blaspheme! LOL! gotta remember Good ol hans is only going to show the best of the best. I’ve also noticed he liked to show the outlier materials as well, stuff from the deposits that don’t look like the rest. I have a mix of stuff, but mostly what I have is that deep blue/green and some with the picture scapes.

Thanks to everyone - I'm sorry, but this is soooo fun. I feel like this should have been a post in the general rocks board, just so I could see everyone elses Owyhee! I've not found jackpot jasper. All the blue green stuff so far is labeled succor creek. I remember seeing a rock labeled vistaite, now I can't find it. Sometimes husband snags them after I sort them so that isn't unusual. I would have to find it first (in whatever place he decided to hide it this time,) then pry it from his death grip before I could even photograph it. His biggest problem is that forgets where he hides them! Thank rockjunquie for providing reference pictures as well. I've updated the original to include names. I want to see your jackpot when you're home and if you feel up to it realrockhound. So much fun.....

Whenever my husband puts something in a “safe place” it becomes my job to figure out what strange place he put it in this time…. Good luck!
