I have shared this photo before, but this is my "proud tumble" submission: Does it have a crack? Yes. Does it have imperfections? Yes. However, it is still one of my favorite tumbles. It has amazing floating inclusions and is from my current home state. I did not find it myself; I bought the rough.

Yes I have seen this and was in awe. Really appreciate your beautiful tumble work and the photography. After I started to tumble pigeon blood myself, I realized it was really more challenging than I imagined. Your timestamp is 15:12:42 GMT. Your raffle number is 12 and thanks for sharing!

Early on I didn't have a way to work them, so I kind of half tumbled them for a few weeks before I realized that wasn't going to work lol.

Most all of these are just end cuts. Probably go back at some point in time and take the nice ones out and turn into cabs.

The fact that it is almost fracture free is also amazing. The timestamp is 21:17:49 and your raffle number is 17. Thanks for sharing!

When making cabs out of end cuts, do people usually use the butt side as the front side of the cab so that it naturally has room for a dome? If that is the case, isn't it a bit hard to predict what the final look would be from the cut side?

Realrockhound, I am making an Aleman Ranch petrified wood cab for this contest from the an end cut with varying thicknesses. I hope to get a nicely colored cab with a good dome by grinding away the opaque top section(undulating) and get a thick enough blank to dome. There are no absolutes when doing this but it is also like working Bouquet plume when the good stuff is hidden between layers.
