Hello I recently aquired a 24 inch slab saw. It does not have any manufacturers tags that i can see. It is in need of some repair. The vise carriage is broken and the rollers need replaced. So I am hoping maybe one of you can help me identify the carriage and if the saw is company made.

The innards look like Great Western, the housing, homemade. Did GW make kit saws?

The Great Western was similar with its side entry. I agree details of support for the vice sled are similar as well. The vice seems incomplete and calls for old world craftsmanship. Ignore the rust and go forward. I have a Great Western cab machine that is looking for a home. Like this saw it's built heavy.

Peruano I looked at your cabbing machine and it looks like an awesome BEAST!! If I wasn't on the other side of the country I'd be seriously interested:) To rockhoundzach, I've never seen a saw like that but I bet its a great machine and well deserving of restoration!

Thank you for posting the pics Rockoonz. Thank all of you for sharing your knowledge and best guess.. I kind of flet that the saw is a combo of homemade and manufacturer parts, but dont really know. I do have what I believe to be the rest of the vise and carriage. As you can see it is a basket case... some reassembling, some paint or pwder coating, maybe addition of a power feed or a hydraulic dampener and weight system and i will see how she cuts.
