Man, you folks really know how to flatter someone!!! Thanks for all the very kind words!
I've always wanted to do a batch like this, so I combed through thousands of ebay auctions over about a year to gradually assemble a nice variety of top-quality rough at an expensive but not completely ridiculous price (that's why it took me a year ;D). I was really pleased with the outcome, but it's probably the only time I'll ever shell out that kind of cash for tumbling rough. So now it's back to cheaper tumbling rough... I have a batch of Flint Ridge flint that should be finished in 5 or 6 weeks, and I have pretty high expectations for it (knock wood).
Eric -- are you referring to the "BC ocean stone" that comes from BC? That is different than this "ocean jasper", which comes from Madagascar.
Daniel -- These pics were taken with a Canon Powershot S2 IS, outside, in bright shade, with the white balance set on a piece of white paper, using the camera's "set white balance" feature. If you are interested in this model, I made some fairly lengthy comments about it a week or two ago in the thread on "what do you shoot with", which was either in the general or the life and universe boards.
Thanks again everyone for the compliments, they are much appreciated. -Don

Man, forget Tucson, or Quartzite. Those OJs are better than any that I've seen out there. And I have seen thousands.

Thank you for resurrecting this older thread. For a Newbie this was a superb expereince and a joy to see. Only one question: WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO ALL THOSE GORGEOUS OJ TUMBLES???

Yes, I recall this was one of the nicest tumbles I had ever seen.
Somethign funny though. Beef did not recall the thread, but the posting before his is from last October. Someone must have posted and then deleted. No problem, I just wonder why.

Drool, drool, slurp. Drool, drool, slurp. You get the idea. Those might be the most beautiful tumbles I have ever seen. Great job!

My jaw hit the floor when I saw these. I absolutely love this stuff. I have a few pieces I'm going to tumble and I'll be very pleased if the come out half this good. Great tumble and great pics. Thanks to whoever brought this back up.

?? It's been some time since I've seen these, but it's nice to see them up for another go around. As for what happened to these stones, well a few were rather reluctantly given away ;D, but most ended up in a display dish near my computer. Might as well freshen this thread up and add in a couple pics of that. And thanks for the new comments! -Don
[glow=red,2,300]ADDED NOTE, July 27/07:[/glow] I edited this post, moving the pics I had added here into my original post made back in October 2006. That way all the pics are together in one spot. Hope that makes sense. -Don
