I don't think he's going to have to worry anymore about how the traffic is on the way to the job he is not going to have.
He sounds like a jerk to me, and a techno-crat... one of those people who think they are superior just because they have technology and know how to use it. He probably couldn't check his tire pressure or use an actual paper map if his life depended on it.
