Ooooo Stefan, did you ever dodge that one. We got more last night but not much, about an inch but that's too much as far as I'm concerned.

We got a few flakes over the past few days, along with some rain. Snow's all gone, but it's an ice rink out there today. Won't be doing much driving... My winter tires won't be on until Tuesday.

Oooooooooo you have cardinals, lucky you. We've been seeing on or two around here for the last 6 or 7 years but very few and far between. Cardinals and catbirds, two of my favorite birds. I could listen to a catbird sing forever, they are so comical. I managed to get a picture of him as he came in for a landing on my picnic table, pretty blurry but he's my proof that they do come this far north. The year before our trees came down on our house, we had a wonderful spring with all kinds of birds entertaining us. Mr and Mrs Oriole .... And our catbirds. The oriole and catbird used to fight over the dish of grape jelly. This pic of the oriole where he's leaning over there, he was heading to nail the catbird again. *smile* Birds are so much fun.

OMG Catbirds drive me insane! We had some hanging around our house 2 years ago- I finally scared them off with the kids Super Soaker- Uggg (sorry cher the noise is just too much) We have a couple of Cardinals that hang out in our dogwood bush (very red twigs) I think they use it as camo!

They drive you insane? I used to go hunting them down where they were singing in the woods so I could listen to them. I'd take a folding chair and sit there with the binocs watching him. I really miss them, they haven't been back since we lost the trees. We've got those red colored dogwood bushes too. We call them "hard to get rid of weed bushes", do you know anyway to kill them?

And thats what I love about the South. Once in a blue moon we get a little snow or ice but it always disapears in less than a week. Well almost always. Yet, I still look forward to those warm days of Feb. & Mar. Miss iss ippi - I luv ya!

Nope- My wife was trimming them back 2 years ago when one scrathed her eye- Had to take her to the emergency room and everything- Funny thing is the scrath actually improved her vision (but man it took her forever to heal) Now she is not allowed near them (without safty goggles) and they just keep growing! (they can grow something like 5 feet a year)- I will probably hack em down this winter (to a managable 5 or 6 feet- where they are 30 feet right now!) But I don't think (short of ripping them out by the roots!) there is any to kill em! Oh and Drupe- We have about 3 inches on the ground right now- with an expected 1 to 2 FEET coming on Thursday- Yea winter is here!

The weather is totally screwed up. I live about 1,000 km (600 miles) north of Cher (and quite a bit west), out on the northern Canadian prairies. Last year the snow came to stay about mid-October. Usually it comes to stay around mid-November. This winter we have been running consistently at record warmth -- on Tuesday it was 19 C (66 F) -- the high should be -1 C (30 F) now. This week I came across this in our garden that should be buried under snow: Go figure! Looks like this will soon be coming to an end though. Well, we need some cold weather so I can get out ice-fishing!

Ohhh that's so cool. I'd be in my glory if we had weather like that, definitely take warmth over ice fishing any day. Want warm sunshine, pretty flowers, open doors and windows, birds singing ....
