My daughter and I have really found some cool and interesting rocks on our camping trips. It seems like we always come home w/ cool stuff.......this was BEFORE I got into tumbling......now our camping trips will be filled w/ rock collecting.
Anyhow, some of the rocks really look too cool in their "natural" state to tumble. How many of you have a big collection of rocks that you will just not tumble?????
I know it's heresy, treason and blaspheme to talk of such nonsense on this website....please don't kick me off the site, LOL.
Gaetz

I have found a few pieces that I don't want to tumble but not too many. Most everything I pick up is with tumbling in mind.

Yes. It's a struggle. Especially fossils, what can you do.

Not to worry. I have plenty of sample pieces I won't tumble. Crystals, unique display pieces. Some of them, tumbling would just ruin. Then I have some I just can't tumble because they are 150# chucks of agate that are lawn decorations, and they are not moving. Good Luck, keep your treasures and stay on aboard.

I have a really big container (which is full, I guess I need another) with the words Not for Tumbling written on it. It usually is a place for fossil type rocks, unusual crystals, metallic soft rocks, and rocks with cracks or pits in them but are still too cool in shape or color to throw out into the rock gardens. Not to mention the unusual but extra large ones that I keep right by the door steps, lining some of the flower beds, oh then there's those shelves ..... I guess they are everywhere.
I find a lot of ones that I think look just fine the way mother nature made them.

Sands, sorry to distract from that wonderful picture, but what are those purple cabs on the right? They're gorgeous

Hi Gaetz, I actually don't tumble more of my rock collection than I do tumble. I have them everywhere, much to my husband's dismay... No worries, you're no stranger than the rest of us. Rhonda

When I get home tonight I'll take a picture of my collection- NOT FOR TUMBLING- I have a 60 pound chunk of mica shot through with tourmaline that I had to carry out of a mine site (they said you can keep what ever you can carry) should seen the look on the owners faces!

Mostly big pieces (I only have 3# barrels). I have ten or so pounds of petrified wood pieces from 1 inch up to 3 inches that I'm afraid to tumble. I have a ten pound piece of petrified I'll never tumble. I have a ten# piece of obsidian and I have not been successful getting obsidian to shine up

HEY I resemble that remark- ok here are a couple of shots ot the rock display case- Not sure how well you can make out the rocks the first photo has the 60 Lb mica/ tourmaline chunk in the upper right hand corner- the second photo has the Garnet incrusted rock in the upper left hand side- The case is 4 ft long by 18 inches wide
