This montana agate will be finding it's home with my aunt - she gave me a whole bunch of jaspers thinking they were agates, so I'll send her this to show her what a "real" agate is... along with a cab of tahoma agate/jasper? wrapped the other way with uncoiled wire - I may get better rings too (some that have been tumbled - where can I get a tumbler???), Sorry it's a bit blurry Thanks for looking

Thanks guys, I'm really happy with it right now it's held in place with centrifugal force - I had to squish it in there, but it'll have to glue it in so it holds in there properly - I have som E6000 glue that I have to open up Cher the back is the same as the front, jsut flat - the wrap is the same on both ends Jack, it,s the never ending cab - it's for infinity

Is the wire braided? I would really like to know how you did this one.
Great job!

rckhndk: although it looks braided, it's actually individual rings strung together in a pattern, PM me if you want the information I've sent to others on how to do this from online tutorials... and where to get rings if you need them...

Liz - get some crapft wire of various gauges & wrap it around knitting needles a few times - cut the rings off and keep them to practice making a few weaves - it's very simple, my 10 year old daughter got one of the weaves down pretty fast - it's one of the non-beginner weaves too. She also made a few of those celtic stars too for her teachers... they make great key chains & earrings...

I was shocked to find so much information in one place! I LOVE the look obtained using the Chainmaille technique! Would you mind emailing the instructional links to me? I started looking for rocks, just over a year ago, for the waterfall I'm installing in my sunken patio...and kinda fell in love with the whole rock hounding experience. I just recently purchased rock tumblers (which I started using on Day 1) and I'm finishing up my first load next week. I was looking for ways to display my soon-to-be-finished stones...and then I found this forum. Thanks, to all of you, for the wealth of experience you're all so willing to share!

Ya, very interesting Tweet. I believe your on to something. My only concern on the style is the stone looks like you can pop it out the the wrap easily. So that will be the real sale. I had a guy for years do leather work for me. He had a techinque of setting stones into leather that would last for ever. And ive talked with many leather crafters who can figure out how he did it. The setting was simple looking and appealled to men, mainly. This chainmail like wrap would too i say. Very nice and cant wait to see more.
