I'm going to be rather busy until after the holidays, but I will post pictures and dialog about the wax pen and wax early January. Boby

B1,
Did you by chance happen to post a description of your wax pen, and the formula you developed for the tuff wax replacement on the Orchid Digest some time back? found a series of posts describing the tuff wax and a wax pen today while searching.

Amazing work! And thanks for sharing your processes. I'd love to know the process for making those stella, as well as anything you care to share about the silver casting and wax drawing. Tony

OM, I might have posted something on Orchid, I can't remember for sure. I did respond to a question in Lapidary Journal (Jewelry Artist) on this subject a few months ago. That might be where you saw it. Bob

Incredible! That is the kind of stuff you see at the Tucson shows selling for beaucoup bucks. You are one tremendous artist.

Where is Davis Creek, and is it open for collecting, or a pvt claim?

Davis Creek is in Northeastern California just below the Oregon border, near a town called Alturas. I think it is BLM land. You have to stop in the store at Davis creek and get a permit. I think it is free and it doesn't allow commercial collecting. Unless you like collecting "Snow Rocks" don't go in the winter months. Bob

Would a batik pen work for the wax work?

I'm not sure about a batik pen. I've seen them but not done anything with them to speak knowledgeably about the subject. I haven't forgotten about posting some info on making your own wax pen and wax. I've just been a bit busy lately. I have gathered the parts to do a tutorial on it. Just gotta get off my a** ...er....act and get to it. Bob

The Batik pen did not work, couldn"t get the wax through the nozzel, wax was to thickk and the nozzel to small

I still haven't forgotten about the wax pen tutorial. I've gathered all the parts. I just have to organize making the pen and photogrphing the process. Soon I hope. I've been busy getting my house ready to sell. Bob

Not this week. Next week I'm tiling the stair kick boards, so I guess I could say yes. Bob

how's the remodeling going?

Slowly. Work keeps getting in the way. I'm only home on the weekends now. The stairs are done. They had ugly carpet on them. When I removed it I saw that the treads were oak. I patched the nail holes, stained and coated them with a clear varnish. I then added tiles to the toe boards. Now its on to the stair landing and new Pergo flooring. Bob
