Hello everyone.
I arrived on this forum not so long ago, and I quickly realized I found the proper place to "talk" to people that share my hobby.
Even if I'm far away from most of you, you made me feel like home and I thank you everyone for that.
Slowly but surely, my number of posts have grown till it reached to ONE THOUSAND.
I want to celebrate this round number by organizing a contest.
I will post a picture with some rocks. They all weigh over 1,000 grams (for the moment I won't tell you how much, but it could be one of the clues)
Your task is to "pick" some of those rocks in such a manner that the rocks picked by you to weigh 1,000 grams (1 kilo).
The one who guesses a combination (and there are at least 3) wins the rocks that he/she have "picked".
The contest will end on Saturday, June 30th, 3pm RTH time.
If nobody will guess a combination of rocks that weigh 1000 grams (+/- 2 grams) till the end of the contest, the winner will be a little random: being about numbers of posts, the winner will be the one whose combination will weigh most close to my number of posts from the end of the contest. But remember, that's ONLY if nobody guesses a combination that weights between 998 and 1002 grams. Pretty complicated, but I think it will be fun
The remaining rocks will be given to a participant chosen "from a hat", so ALL of you have the chance to win
Now let me introduce you the rocks:
1. Jasper with spherical micro-agates (see close-up)
2. Jasper with some fossil snails - while cutting it I've noticed that this jasper has some dendritic patterns
3. A piece of the "big hunt" I've posted yesterday in the photo area
4. Wood - can't be polished well but very clear wooden pattern
5. White wood
6. A little slab from the same piece of wood that was in my birthday's contest
7. An end-cut from an orange jasper
8. A natural wood chunk
9. Also a wood chunk, but smaller
10. Bi-color jasper, good for tumbling
11. A little wooden piece
12. Tumbled red jasper
13. Tumbled black jasper
14. Tumbled wood
And now the picture of them:
and a close up of the piece no 1:
Your answers should be like that:
18+19+25+27+29 + ... as many pieces you want (of course numbers between 1 and 14)
You can change your mind as many times you want, only the last post will be taken into account. No matter how many posts you have, every participant will have equal chances in the "hat"
Good luck and thanks for participating (hoping you were not falling asleep reading this "book")
Adrian
PS. Regarding the general request of the participants, here's the first clue (be careful, the gradations are cm/mm):
