Mark - You need to put some antibiotic on that finger. I got a nice gash on my shin from a hunk of basalt that I tripped over and it became infected as well. I think there might be some hearty bacteria living on the basalt... don't let it go too long without treatment... have you had a Tetanus shot lately?  Oh great, now you tell me. I was putting rocks in my mouth!  |

Well... I officially became a rock licker at the ranch.. some were just too tasty looking!! ..not the green ones though..lol I figure if I can breath Houston air and not get sick then I can lick a W. Texas rock or 2... |

Glad to have you aboard Cleo... Check with Sheri (RockHobbit) regarding accommodations as there is only one cabin and it sleeps 10 only. Also, there is a deposit required this year and it's due in Nov.
Not sure what your particular needs are but you may want to consider staying in a hotel in Alpine which is just a short drive from the Ranch....

I am pretty seriously thinking about a scouting trip back. Some time after August of course.
Lots of things will come into consideration before that can happen but just maybe. One of those things is transportation, there is no way I could navigate most of the East side in the old Buick. but that is being worked on.
I remember where I found the one and only piece of pom pom I brought back, it has become the star of the show here at home and I want more. Now that I have a decent tent, lodging will not be a problem, so why not.
This would all be in the name of scouting for the group naturally.

Mark, I'm sure someone local with 4-wheel drive would be willing to travel down there for a few days. It wouldn't be hard to get company from the area.

I would certainly give up the Scottish fest at Estes Park for a scouting trip (First I wasn't going this year, then I was) I can make my own meat pie's and have many bagpipe cd's. So I am definitaly in, provided of course my situation is the same as it is now, or within a couple of months (sorry can't explain more than that without becoming morbid).
When, how, etc. can be worked out.

I'm not sure I can wait until April '08.

Funny you should mention me Susan. When I read Ronda's reply I was thinking, Hell, I ain't local and I don't have a 4 wheel drive, but I'll go with you Mark! If we're not careful, there's going to be a reunion trip in November!
