I thought I should post some amazing pictures of Jim Grays Petrified Wood Co. We visited this shop when we were working in ShowLow. This is the most Petrified Wood I've ever seen in my entire life. Millions of dollars worth of stuff here...and some of the most amazing specimens you'll ever see. If you are ever in Holbrook Arizona....be sure to make this a stop. It will leave you amazed, dazed, and definitely drooling!!! Be sure to give yourself plenty of time to look around too, and maybe an extra shirt...from all the slobbering you'll do...it might be a good idea! ;D It's a huge building, and some amazing museum specimens....and lots of expensive slabs, pieces, and hunks! Thank goodness I didn't bring any money....which usually isn't a problem for me anyhows. Enjoy the pictures....and sorry there's so many....especially for the dial-up'ers. Steve the Petrified Wood Yard...only a small fraction of it hows this for size comparison??? A nice pond inside the building....look at all that wood! Just a few full round Woods! and Book Ends some amazing "Green" (chromium) Wood a piece for Curt! I'd love to have a Table like this.....$24,000.00...chum-change! Some great pictures in Wood Hows this for a Scenic Jasper scene??? To end....a whole bunch of Smiley Agates I took tons of pictures! and this is only a few. Jim Gray has an amazing collection. Hope you enjoyed the pictures. Steve

Now that's the Mother Lode of Pet Wood!!!
It's a good thing this place is FAR away from me cause I would not be able to just look if I went there!
I can sniff that distinct odor of melting plastic as my credit card is being pushed to the max!!
Retire or not,,,,,You can bet I WOULD NOT come home without a BIG polished slab of that beautiful Pet Wood!!
Thanks Steve,,,,I think?? LOL

NO WAY!!!
NO WAY!!!
That has to be one of the coolest places on planet earth!
I simply cannot believe that amethyst piece. Or that green stuff...is that possible?!
When I fist saw the picture of that guy standing next to that big piece outside, I thought he was holding a chainsaw!!!!
Can you imagine what it's going to be like when Adrian sees this? He's going to pass out, have a heart attack, have a stroke, buy a plane ticket and find a way to fit all of that is his carry on luggage and take it back to Romania.
Thanks for sharing.

;DGlad you all enjoyed it. I was simply Amazed when I first drove up just to the parking lot. You can see all the wood from the main road, but it just doesn't sink in just how much Wood there really is, until you are there looking around. We all stood there like a bunch of Idiots...didn't even know what to think. It is so worthy of a visit. There is lots more than Wood there to. He has some amazing fossils and of course other rocks. Best of all...it's free just to walk around and enjoy. I don't know what he'd be able to cut that size of wood with...but it's all for sale. Tom...when you come up...just bring a big ole' trailer. Remember who your friends are ! KD..at your request...just a few more pics. Curt....breathe deeply; relax; and maybe have 911 on hold. ;D I would say it's about a 5-6 hour drive from Grand Canyon. Just a guesstimate. It's about an hour outside of Flagstaff. Another picture of a fraction of the yard. A beautifully polished stump. There are several of these pieces. Another table. There are many to choose from. Is this a big enough polished slab Tom? Woodworthia...exceptional piece. Another Picture. I think it's the Rollingstone lips An Alligator Fossil. That's it for now. If you are in the area...it's worth a visit...even a side track trip. You may even meet the man who started it all. Mr. Jim Gray was there when we were. He probably spends alot of time at the shop. I don't know if I'd ever leave! Steve

YAAY! MORE PICTURES!! lol I love that big teddy bear smooch! lol .. and I never knew aligators to die with their mouths open.. that is a trip! and is that a big ol patty of fish fossils in the back ground? just a quick question .. you wouldn't happen to know bout a general idea of how much those stumps run ? they would be cool garden display or something.. do you remember? arm and a leg? or perhaps just a months rent? I might just have to cruise out that way next time I head north..
