Randy, this is a GREAT tutorial! My wire wraps have always been total disasters. Big waste of time and wire and enough frustration to cause a stroke! I think with this tutorial, though, I will have more satisfactory results.
I sure hope so because I have a zillion polished stones I need to figure out something to do with!
Before reading your tutorial, I was thinking about farming them out.

Give this a try and show us your results, no matter what you think of them. My stuff wasn't all to great when I started, I went through a ton of craft wire lol ...Micheals was selling craft wire by the spool. Thank god for Micheals! ;D

Wow, I am very impressed. I've never seen wire-wrapping done. I'll have to try it. I have dozens of Riker mounts full of cabs. Absolutely excellent and informative post.

No kidding! And it's much better than the two wire wrapping CD's I've bought in the past!

Y'all are too kind, my head is getting bigger. lol... I was a little worried if my tutorial would be understandable, I sorta surprized myself (I stayed sober during the entire thing), then I went back and read what I posted and none of it confused me too bad. ;D (I'm messing around) ... Thanks for the awesome feedback!

You should seriously consider doing a CD tutorial to sell. (as if you don't already have enough to do! ;D) I paid about $25 for both the ones I bought and neither was as clear and easy to understand as yours. Just think of all the booze money you could make!

Great tut Randy! It's great to see every step from start to finish... and awesome wrap! Yeah, I agree it's a great thing to put onto a CD!
BTW... I have seriously been under a rock for way too long. I didn't know you did wraping! Right on! ;D If the others are like that beauty then WOW!! Great wrapping style! I like the swoops and the design on the bottom of the stone. Steve

Oh great, now I'm gonna have to try it again. Just what I need, another "Cousin It" or "Boat Anchor". JK! You did make it look easy, was that just an illusion? Cuz, I've tried it and it is so far from being easy. Wish you would have posted this before I turned all of the wire I bought into scrap metal. Excellent job on the Tutorial, you must be one of those brainy biker types, eh?

Me, brainy? Naaaa, I dumb as a rock. ;D I don't think this was an illusion, it actually is quite easy once you figure out the order of the steps. That was pretty much the main objective of the tutorial. Gary (58vette) did one by following this tutorial, and first try his looked just like mine! (didn't surprize me though, Gary is very talented) ..... as we all know that you are too, so try it!

Really terrific tutorial. I have a couple of paperbacks I have bought on wirewrapping and your tutorial is better that what I have seen elsewhere. Thanks for taking the time to do this.
Someday I am gonna try this.

BikerRandy!!!
I am not even close to doing this or maybe I should buy some stones!!!
The instructions you have given, for me, are awesome ....
They are fool proof and made for people like me that need pictures.
Thank you!!!

Today I got the practice wire I ordered a few days ago. Square and half round. Maybe with the right kind of wire, I can actually wire wrap a stone that I'm not embarrassed to look at! I sure couldn't do it with just round wire!

.....and post pics ;D Well, okay - IF it's not too scary! I have a tumbled piece of palm wood I have always wanted to wrap in copper. I actually like copper more than sterling or gold. And it's a whole lot cheaper! Gotta get the house above meat locker temperature to even use my hands! Kinda hard to wire wrap with gloves on! Hard to type on the keyboard too! llana

Thanks so much for the clear explanations and pictures. Your style is slightly less formal than I've seen before and it is calling to me... Now to get the wire. Grace

Wonderfully layed out tutorial, Randy, nothing left out!! Your pictures and instructions and all of the tips from everyone are really going to help. Will definately be using this post as a guide in my first wire-wrap attempt. Delighted to have found a link to this site!
