Hello, Found this last week in an area with alot of oligoclase feldspars, serpentine and corundum (among others). Part of it looks like pet wood. I cannot scratch it with my finger nail, but I can scratch it with a nail, nail. Top Wood Looking Part Front Back Anyone's thoughts are appreciated. Jo

Pics are too small, can't really see much detail.

Thanks Saskrock, absolutely LOVE how your egg turned out. I should be so lucky. I will try opening it up and investigate further.

I believe the correct term would be Somethingite.

You may be on to something here, we could create a whole new classification for those unknown pegmatites that make our brains contort trying to classify. "It's just a Somethingite"... "Here's some Somethingite I picked up today"... "That's a nice piece of Somethingite you got there"...
Way to go Saskrock!

Works for me. I quite commonly find Somethingite. Its one of the more common rocks in my area. When do we get to see the inside of that nice Somethingite you found?

My Somethingite seems to have fallen to the dark side. LOL. I'll post the complete story in the slab section
