Great, I just barely got through drooling over the stuff that Beef put up from his Brenda trip and you go and put this stuff up. Now I have to plan a trip to Arizona AND Washington! I sure hope the price of gas stays down. ;D Beautiful stuff there, I love red.

These are beautiful carnelian! So, do you think it helped when St Helens blew to bring up some of this beautiful stuff? I always wonder if it does. Fran

Shannon, ya gotta get off the scooter, and walk the cricks, ya just gotta. Fran: So far, as I know, when she blew, stuff either got washed away, or buried! You can still see the damage the eruption caused, but the mud lines on the trees are gone.
To all, like most natural, or unenhanced carnelian most of the colour is on the outside, so you do not want to cut too deep if you want deep red cabs. Woody

Wow very nice rocks. Is this carnelian like glass as obsidian is or is it softer? I didn't know it also came from volcanoes.
Sweet cabs in your future!

Tigger: Carnelian is agate that ranges in colour from light yellow to deep red. It is thought that a combination of heat, and iron minerals give the colour, since many agates can be changed from clear to carnelian. Most Brazilian carnelian has been heat treated to develop, or enhance the colour.

Great carnelian Woody. I really like the buckskins too. Some of those buckskins have the best color inside.

Ok, I have to ask: where'd you get 'em from? Some day I might want to go up to Washington for some nice dark red carnelian!

Now, 88...I thought the Salem area was better for dark red carnelian than the material we find in Washington. Woody
