Hi everyone, A real good friend of mine knows that I was into rocks. He called me last night and told me his dad had passed away a few weeks earlier. His dad was also a rock hound. He asked me if I wanted all the geodes his dad had collected through out the years. He knows my medical situation and I could sell them if I wanted to as he has no use for them. I told him yes I would take them. So today he loaded his truck and and brought them over to me. The truck was so weighed down it kind of looked funny pulling in my driveway. I asked him how much they weighed and he did not know. We have a truck scale just a couple of miles from my house so I asked him to get the truck weighed before he and my wife unloaded it which he did. The truck was unloaded and off to the scales he went. The total weight of the geodes was 1811 pounds. There are geodes from golf ball size up to larger than a volley ball. Anyway so I now have 1811 pounds of geodes to sell and will be listing them on ebay but though I would check and see if anyone here would like some. I will fill a priority box as full as I can and will only charge $10.00 plus shipping which I think is around $8.00 - $9.00. If you think that is to much for them please make me a offer and we can talk about it. Shipping would remain the same as I just cannot afford to pay it myself. Thank you for looking. Since my wife was so tired to take photos I can have my her do it tomorrow. gary

Sorry I did not know there were so many sizes. All I have ever used were what I call the standard size. The ones I am talking about measures: 11 X 8 1/2 X 6 inches. If you want a larger box then the cost would be $6.00 plus shipping. I only charge what it costs to mail, I am not after making money by charging a huge amount gary

Gary Please Look in to the box size before you set the price, I think that the Large flat rate box will hold at least 40 lbs of rocks, @ $6.oo thats .15 cents a pound. I think thats real cheap if they are good quality. I will take 2 of the ones you have listed. How do I pay Mike

Mike, Thanks for letting me know. Like I said before I did not know about the different sizes. Yes a box that holds 40 pounds would not be for just that amount. If anyone wants a box that large please let me know and we can work it out. gary

Wow great deal on the geodes! I have a bunch a buddy of mine gave me, however I might have to load up with those prices!.... Can you tell me where these are from? Which mine, or state and also are they hollow "rattlers" or solid geodes? I have seen both types from that area.
Thanks much! Jason rockhound@netcnct.net

Sheesh - Sorry for the second post, but I forgot to add something.... The Post Office does have (2) sizes of Flat Rates which work great for rocks like this. The "normal flat rate which is the size you mentioned runs $10.35 per box to ship, and the "large" flat rate runs $13.95 to ship. The standard size I can usually fit about 25lbs of rock on average and the large box can squeeze about 35 to 45 if you strategically pack them lol. ALso keep in mind you can go to www.usps.com and order your flat rate boxes for free and they ship to your door at no charge! Jason rockhound@netcnct.net www.oregonthundereggs.com

Hi, Thank you for your response. After hearing that there are several sizes of boxes: the one I have listed the shipping will be $10.35 ( holds approximately 25 pounds) and the next size is $13.95 which holds approximately 34-45 pounds). I do not think my wife can carry the larger one so I will only sell the smaller box. I will fill it with as many geodes tht will fit in it plus send whatever size geodes you want. Now if someone wants any of the larger geodes I will try and see if my neighbor will take them to the post office. Now for the geodes: I believe they are all from Kentucky, but do not know for sure, his son thinks so to. For what is inside them, all I can say is there was one that broke open when it was unloaded and it was hollow and filled with crystals that when held in the sun sparkled like diamonds. I will have my wife take a hammer and bust up a couple of the smaller ones this morning to see what is inside. Last night she picked up several of roughly the same size and some were lighter than others. With this in mind maybe some are hollow and some solid....I just dont know and dont want to guess. This is about as honest as I can be, I dont have the capacity to cut any open. SORRY about all the confusion regarding the geodes...I guess I should have checked about the shipping before I opened my mouth on selling them. Thank you for your patience. gary

Gary, why don't you just set the shipping at $11.00 -- that would give you .65 cents for tape , gas and anything else ( you can print the label online and they are a little cheaper but you have to pay with a credit card , and then the mailman will pick them up at your house) --save a trip to the post office --- also a tracking number is free if the label is printed online but if you get it at the post office it is $.65 extra-------- since the rocks are so cheap , don't lose any money on shipping them ----------- the last time I bought that packing tape it was about $10 for a four roll pack --- I usually put 2 layers in two spots, both ways and one around the sides, so they hold together and a roll doesn't last long
you could set the price at $20 ,shipping included ( don't forget that paypal is going to take their cut too ) ------ at $20 you would still only be clearing about $7-8 dollars for the rock

Hi, Just a update to let everyone that purchased geodes they went out in todays mail. My wife loaded the boxes in the truck, took them to the post office, unloaded them and got them shipped. The boxes averaged just a little over 25 pounds each. Funny thing after removing that many boxes/pounds just did not seem to make any difference in the pile of geodes in the garage. 1811 pounds really is a lot. Again thank those who purchased them and in anyone else would like some please let me know. gary

Hi everyone, After filling 15 more boxes today I am down to several hundred pounds of the larger geodes. They are approximately 5-6 inches round and up. At this size I can only put 3-4 in the smaller priority box and maybe 4-6 in the larger box. Of course shipping would be more. Since these are larger geodes I will sell them for $10.00 per box plus shipping. I also have some very large ones that if anyone is interested in PM me and we can talk about. If not then I will be putting the rest on ebay and see what happens. I want to thank everyone that has purchased boxes so far and hope you all enjoy them. gary
