Early in the thread the Ray Tech Vibe was given a some pretty negative negative comments .... has their reputation improved over the years? The Thumblers and Lot-O's seem to be "out of stock" just about everywhere so the choices are very limited. Just invested in the RT10 and the comments have me a tad worried about its potential longevity. From my personal experience, Ray Tech (Lyman Products Corporation), as well as their Turbo Tumblers rep's, have been over all very positive......more often than not, the bad vibes come from folks who expect miraculous results from a machine they have no experience with or have any idea how the process works.......IMHO

I wish that they had better customer service. I wrote directly to Ray Tech with a question about which washer goes where and have not gotten a reply. The seller, Kingsley North, replied but was zero helpful as far as answering the question. So far, no one else here seems to have the RT10 and I am just guessing that I have the machine assembled correctly. Minor puzzlement but it's buggin' me !

Last week I received a brand new UV-10 tumbler and a TV-10 bowl for it. I've had a batch of rock going for 3 days in 500 grit pre-polish. I have three Lortone QT-66/12 tumblers and a few harbor freight 33's that I used for the 36/70 and 110/220 stages. So far the rock has been moving well with only a few sprays of water here and there. It's very dry here in Denver so I'm pleased with that. Tonight I'll do a clean out and start the polish stage. I want to make sure I have the procedure for this right since I've never used a vibratory tumbler for rocks before.
I'll put some dish soap and a little more water into the bowl and run it for about 30 minutes to help loosen up the grit, then remove everything and scrub it well. I'll put the rocks and ceramics back into the TV-10 bowl and tumble with Borax for a few hours, then do another cleanout. I'm going to use the original UV-10 bowl as my dedicated polish bowl so I'll mount that, add the rocks, media, and polish, and let it go for a few more days before a final burnishing run with borax.
Does that sound right?

Does that sound right? That is right. I have a UV-10 vibe as well and I love it. What kind of polish will you be using, Aluminum oxide? Do you know the right amount of polish to use? After you start the polishing stage keep an eye on the slurry to make sure you have a milky slippery surface on the stones. I hope it goes well.

After you start the polishing stage keep an eye on the slurry to make sure you have a milky slippery surface on the stones. I hope it goes well. Thanks. I'm using 1000 grit AO for the final polish. Last night I squirted some dish soap in the bowl and let it run for about two hours, then gave everything a good scrubbing and rinse. I burnished in the TV-10 bowl with borax for about an hour (was running out of time), cleaned again, and then used 3 TBS of 1000 AO and 1 TBS of borax in the UV-10 bowl that I'm dedicating to polish only. I checked it this morning and there is a milky slurry covering everything. The slurry is enough that I can almost make out details and colors in the rock, but not quite. I'm excited to see how these turn out. They looked great when cleaned up after the pre-polish.
