i think a glass gribder with jewlery bit is easiest, and not too expensive, but +/- $100
ypu can also freehand with a 7/8" cutting disc on a dremel - thats rock bottom

i wondered the same thing about how you got the groove in there. I have a glass grinder (used to do stained glass) and wondered if a thin grinder bit could do that.

Hi Adrian and all. Thank you for the tutorial on groove wrapping. I'm still as green as the grass and avid to try lots of branches of this addiction. Tumbling and polishing is coming along and offering great rewards. Now, I'm looking for info on how (and when) to cut the grooves on stones for groove wrapping. I have a rotary tool with lots of attachments. I'd really appreciate a boost with some how-to. Thanks in advance from Robbiejohn.

Jeri, Robbiejohn, here is how I cut the grooves. But it's not the only method, some use a glass cutting machine having a horizontal plateau and a small diamond wheel (bit). Adrian

Adrian, My son does a great job but I am not able to follow what he is doing. I love this bail and I'm pretty sure I can do it. I don't wrap but I do make pendants and the bail is the part I need to be able to do. Thanks so much for these instructions that are so easy to follow.

Krystee and Tanya, thank you both.
Tanya, your son Chris is a wizard of wire - no , in fact is THE wizard of wire - , so no wander even his Mom is surpassed by his skills. What I am doing here is much more simple and I am glad you find my tutorial useful.

Adrian, that is so kind of you. You as well are a wizard with stone, metal and wire. I have watched the things you have made from the sword to the cane for your Mom and now working on the project with Toad. You do awesome work. I am honored to have such talented people to learn from.
